Crispy Garlic Bread from Leftover Bread
How to Make Crispy Garlic Bread with Leftover Bread Slices
When I got home, I found a bag of bread slices sitting on the dining table. It seems my younger child, feeling a bit peckish, had toasted some and then, only half-heartedly closing the bag, left it there. Since I got home a little earlier today, I decided to make a snack for my two kids. I ended up making simple garlic bread using the leftover bread slices. This recipe is perfect for a quick and delicious treat!
Ingredients- 3 slices of bread (regular size)
- 50g salted butter
- 2 Tbsp minced garlic (approx. 7-8 cloves)
- 1 tsp dried parsley flakes
- A pinch of sugar (optional)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Mince about 7-8 cloves of garlic to yield approximately 2 tablespoons of minced garlic. Using freshly minced garlic will give a much more intense and aromatic flavor!
Step 2
Gently melt the 50g of salted butter using a double boiler (bain-marie). If using unsalted butter, you’ll need to add a pinch of salt to the mixture later to achieve the right flavor.
Step 3
In the melted butter, mix in the minced garlic and dried parsley flakes to create your garlic butter. You can add a little sugar at this stage if you prefer a hint of sweetness, but I chose to skip it to emphasize the savory garlic and butter flavors!
Step 4
Cut the bread slices into your desired size or shape. Arrange the cut bread slices on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. I cut mine into larger pieces for easier handling.
Step 5
Generously spread the prepared garlic butter evenly over the top surface of each bread slice. Ensure good coverage for maximum flavor. If you prefer garlic butter on both sides, double the amount of garlic butter you prepare.
Step 6
Finally, sprinkle a little sugar over the top if desired. Bake in a preheated oven at 201°C (approximately 395°F) for about 10 to 12 minutes. Oven temperatures and baking times can vary greatly between appliances, so keep an eye on the bread and adjust as needed until it’s golden brown and crispy. Enjoy your delicious homemade garlic bread!
