Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, let’s prepare the bean sprouts. Rinse them thoroughly under running water. Shake off excess water and drain them in a colander. Avoid washing them for too long or soaking them, as this can make them mushy.
Step 2
Next, prepare the bacon. Cut the two strips of bacon (about 23cm each) into bite-sized pieces, approximately 1.5cm to 2cm wide. Cutting them slightly thicker prevents them from breaking apart too much during cooking.
Step 3
Now, let’s prep the aromatics and garnish. Chop the scallion into roughly 1cm pieces. Thinly slice the garlic cloves. Thinly sliced garlic will release more flavor and enhance the aroma of the dish. You can omit or adjust the amount of peperoncino based on your spice preference. Crushing them slightly will help distribute the heat.
Step 4
Time to make the delicious seasoning for our bacon and bean sprout stir-fry! In a small bowl, combine 1 Tbsp of oyster sauce and 2 Tbsp of soy sauce. Mix well. This simple sauce is packed with flavor.
Step 5
Let’s start stir-frying! Heat 1 Tbsp of vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the thinly sliced garlic and sauté for about 20 seconds until fragrant. Be careful not to burn the garlic; the goal is to infuse the oil with its aroma.
Step 6
Once the garlic is fragrant, add the sliced bacon to the pan and cook until it starts to turn golden brown. When the bacon is lightly browned, pour in the prepared sauce mixture.
Step 7
Allow the sauce to coat the bacon evenly. Then, turn the heat up to high. Add the drained bean sprouts and chopped scallions to the pan. Stir-fry quickly for about 1 minute. This high-heat, quick stir-fry is key to keeping the bean sprouts perfectly crisp! Be careful not to overcook them. Finally, sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds for a beautiful finish. Your delicious bacon and bean sprout stir-fry is ready to be enjoyed as a rice topping or a fantastic appetizer!
