The Perfect Match for Chicken! Cayo-Mayo Cabbage Salad Recipe ♡
Absolutely sensational when paired with chicken! This is a super simple Cayo-Mayo cabbage salad made with ketchup, mayonnaise, and fresh cabbage. ♡ Its crisp texture and sweet-and-tangy flavor will surely whet your appetite.
Main Ingredients- 1/4 head of cabbage (approx. 250g)
Cayo-Mayo Dressing- 2 Tbsp ketchup
- 1.5 Tbsp mayonnaise
- 1 tsp sugar
- 2 Tbsp ketchup
- 1.5 Tbsp mayonnaise
- 1 tsp sugar
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Wash the cabbage thoroughly. Then, carefully cut out the tough core from the center. Next, slice the cabbage lengthwise into thin, bite-sized shreds (about 0.5cm thick). Tip! Using a mandoline slicer can help you achieve thinner, more uniform shreds, but be extremely careful to avoid cutting your fingers!
Step 2
Lightly rinse the shredded cabbage under cold water. It’s best to drain the water thoroughly by placing it in a colander. This step ensures the salad remains crisp and doesn’t become soggy.
Step 3
In a small bowl, combine the mayonnaise, ketchup, and sugar. Whisk well with a whisk or spoon until the sugar is completely dissolved and all ingredients are evenly incorporated to create the dressing. Tip! For a brighter, tangier flavor, add about 1/2 tsp of lemon juice or 1/3 tsp of vinegar.
Step 4
Pour the prepared Cayo-Mayo dressing over the drained cabbage. Gently toss to coat the cabbage evenly with the dressing. Alternatively, you can serve the salad with the dressing drizzled artfully on top.
Step 5
Your delicious and tangy Cayo-Mayo cabbage salad is ready! Enjoy it immediately, or for an even more refreshing taste, chill it in the refrigerator before serving. It’s a fantastic accompaniment to chicken or sandwiches for a delightful meal!
