Main Ingredients- 300g Garaetteok (Korean rice cake), refrigerated or frozen
- 5-6 slices Bacon
- 2 Tbsp Mustard sauce
- 3 Tbsp Ketchup
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the rice cakes. Use garaetteok (Korean rice cakes) that have been refrigerated or frozen. If the rice cakes are hard, place them in boiling water for 1-2 minutes until softened. Be careful not to overcook them, as they can become too mushy. If they are already soft, you can skip this step.
Step 2
Next, prepare the bacon. Cut the bacon into pieces that are suitable for wrapping around the rice cakes, approximately 5-7 cm long. If they are too long, they will be difficult to wrap, and if too short, they may not hold the rice cake securely.
Step 3
Now, it’s time to skewer the rice cakes and bacon. Wrap one piece of bacon around a rice cake, then thread 2-3 of these wrapped rice cakes onto a skewer for a nice presentation. Heat a pan over medium-low heat, add a little oil, and place the bacon-wrapped rice cake skewers. Cook them until they are golden brown and crispy on all sides. Bacon releases its own fat, so you won’t need much additional oil. Keep an eye on the heat to prevent burning.
Step 4
Finally, it’s time to add the finishing touches. Arrange the cooked bacon rice cake skewers attractively on a plate. Then, generously drizzle with ketchup and mustard sauce according to your taste. For a finer drizzle, use a piping bag or a plastic bag with a small corner snipped off. You can mix the sauces together before drizzling or apply them separately for a variety of flavors and colors!
