Main Ingredients

  • 1 whole pickled radish (mujjanji)
  • 3 stalks of scallions

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Introducing the star of our dish: pickled radish (mujjani). We’ll be making a delicious salad with its savory flavor and satisfying crunch.

Step 1

Step 2

Rinse the pickled radish under running water. Slice it into very thin strips. Slicing it thinly helps the seasoning penetrate evenly, resulting in a more flavorful and texturally pleasant dish.

Step 2

Step 3

Place the thinly sliced pickled radish in a bowl of cold water and soak for about 30 minutes. This step is crucial to remove excess saltiness, ensuring the radish is tender and perfectly seasoned, not overly salty.

Step 3

Step 4

Drain the soaked radish well. Using a clean kitchen towel or a fine-mesh cloth, firmly squeeze out as much water as possible. Removing excess water is key to preventing the seasoning from becoming watery and ensuring it adheres well to the radish.

Step 4

Step 5

Wash and finely chop the scallions. In a mixing bowl, combine the squeezed pickled radish, gochugaru, minced garlic, plum extract, sesame oil, and toasted sesame seeds.

Step 5

Step 6

Gently mix and toss everything together with your hands until the ingredients are well coated with the seasoning. Feel free to adjust the seasoning to your taste. You can add a little more gochugaru or plum extract if needed, after tasting the radish.

Step 6

Step 7

Let the salad sit for a few minutes to allow the flavors to meld. Then, transfer the beautifully mixed pickled radish salad to a serving dish. It should look glossy and appealing.

Step 7

Step 8

This pickled radish salad is the perfect side dish to awaken your appetite when it’s feeling dull. It’s especially delicious served with a bowl of warm rice. Enjoy your delicious creation!
