Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Hello everyone! Today, we’re going to make a crispy and delicious seasoned soybean sprouts salad that will be a wonderful addition to your meal. It’s so simple that even those living alone can whip it up easily, so anyone can follow along!

Step 1

Step 2

First, let’s prepare the soybean sprouts. Rinse them thoroughly under running water to remove any dirt or impurities. Bring a pot of water to a rolling boil and add about 1/2 teaspoon of salt. Once the water is boiling, add the rinsed soybean sprouts. Do not cover the pot, and blanch the sprouts for a short period of 2 to 3 minutes. Boiling them for too long will make them mushy and lose their crispness, so be sure to watch the time.

Step 2

Step 3

After blanching, immediately rinse the soybean sprouts under cold running water to cool them down. This helps maintain their crisp texture. Drain them well in a colander, ensuring all excess water is removed. Then, gently loosen the clumped sprouts with your hands and squeeze out as much water as possible. If there’s still water left, the salad might turn out bland.

Step 3

Step 4

Now, it’s time for seasoning. Place the well-drained soybean sprouts in a bowl. Add 2 teaspoons of soy sauce (or 1 teaspoon of regular soy sauce), 1/2 teaspoon of salt, 2 teaspoons of sesame oil, and a little bit of finely chopped green onion. Gently mix and toss the sprouts with your hands to evenly distribute the seasoning. Avoid mixing too vigorously, as this can break down the sprouts. Finish by sprinkling some toasted sesame seeds on top.

Step 4

Step 5

And there you have it! A wonderfully crisp and savory seasoned soybean sprouts salad is ready. The seasoning is mild, making it a great side dish for children, and a versatile banchan that pairs well with any Korean meal. Enjoy your delicious creation!
