  • Occasion : Everyday
  • Cooking : Seasoned mix
  • Servings : 3 servings
  • Cooking Time : Within 10 minutes
  • Difficulty : Beginner

Main Ingredients

  • Fresh Mung Bean Sprouts 380g
  • 1 Tbsp Salt (for boiling water)

Seasoning Ingredients

  • 1/2 Tbsp Minced Garlic
  • 1 Tbsp Fish Sauce (adds umami)
  • 1/2 Tbsp Salt (adjust to taste)
  • 1 Tbsp Sesame Oil (for nutty aroma)
  • 1 Tbsp Toasted Sesame Seeds
  • A pinch of finely chopped Green Onion (optional, for extra flavor)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, place the mung bean sprouts in a bowl and gently rinse them two to three times by swishing them around with your hands in clean water. This step helps remove any dirt or debris.

Step 1

Step 2

Bring a pot of water to a rolling boil with 1 tablespoon of salt. Once the water is vigorously boiling, add the rinsed bean sprouts. From the moment the sprouts are in, blanch them for precisely 2 minutes. Blanching for slightly less time than soybean sprouts helps achieve a wonderful balance of crispness and tenderness.

Step 2

Step 3

Gently stir the sprouts with a strainer or ladle to ensure even blanching. After 2 minutes, immediately drain the sprouts in a colander and rinse them quickly under cold running water to stop the cooking process and cool them down. This shock in cold water further enhances their crispness.

Step 3

Step 4

When draining the sprouts, avoid squeezing out all the water too forcefully. Gently press them just enough to remove excess moisture. This prevents the sprouts from becoming mushy and helps maintain their delightful crunch.

Step 4

Step 5

Transfer the lightly drained bean sprouts to a clean bowl. Add all the seasoning ingredients: 1/2 tablespoon minced garlic, 1 tablespoon fish sauce, 1/2 tablespoon salt, 1 tablespoon sesame oil, 1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds, and a pinch of chopped green onion.

Step 5

Step 6

Gently mix and toss the sprouts with your hands until the seasoning is evenly distributed. Once seasoned to perfection, your delicious seasoned bean sprouts are ready! Enjoy this wonderful side dish with your meal.
