Crispy and Delicious Mandu Gangjeong Recipe

Mandu (Korean dumplings) are always in the freezer! While delicious on their own, they can be enjoyed in a more exciting way as Mandu Gangjeong. Today, let’s make a sweet, sour, and spicy Mandu Gangjeong that’s perfect for any occasion. It’s a fantastic snack for kids or a great accompaniment with drinks!

Recipe Info

  • Category : Noodles & Dumplings
  • Ingredient Category : Processed foods
  • Occasion : Late-night snack
  • Cooking : Deep-fry
  • Servings : 2 servings
  • Difficulty : Anyone

Main Ingredients

  • 20 dumplings (choose your preferred size)
  • 4 Tbsp nuts (such as peanuts, almonds, etc.)
  • 1/2 Tbsp sesame seeds (for garnish)

Sauce

  • 2 Tbsp ketchup
  • 1/2 Tbsp gochujang (Korean chili paste)
  • 1/2 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 Tbsp oligo syrup (adjust sweetness to your preference)
  • 1/2 Tbsp cooking oil (for pan coating)

Utensils

  • Air fryer or frying pan
  • Bowl (for mixing sauce)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Place the dumplings in an air fryer and cook at 180°C (350°F) for 15 minutes until golden brown and crispy. If you don’t have an air fryer, you can pan-fry the dumplings in a little oil over medium-low heat until golden brown on all sides. (Tip: Smaller dumplings tend to get crispier!)

Step 1

Step 2

Now, let’s make the delicious Mandu Gangjeong sauce! Heat 1/2 tablespoon of cooking oil in a frying pan over low heat. Add 2 tablespoons of ketchup, 1/2 tablespoon of soy sauce, 2 tablespoons of oligo syrup, and 1/2 tablespoon of gochujang. Stir well to combine and let it simmer gently until the sauce slightly thickens.

Step 2

Step 3

Once the sauce starts to bubble, add the cooked dumplings to the pan. Toss them quickly to ensure they are evenly coated with the sauce. After the dumplings are well-coated, generously sprinkle with the prepared nuts. We added plenty of peanuts for crunch and sesame seeds for a nutty aroma.

Step 3

Step 4

Your delicious Mandu Gangjeong, with its perfect balance of sweet, sour, and spicy flavors, is now complete! Enjoy them immediately while they are warm for the best crispy exterior and tender interior. Leftover Mandu Gangjeong can be cooled and stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator to be enjoyed later.
