  • 1/2 stalk green onion
  • 2 Tbsp fine gochugaru (Korean chili flakes)
  • 2 Tbsp rice vinegar (or regular vinegar)
  • 2 Tbsp fish sauce (or anchovy sauce)
  • 1 Tbsp toasted sesame seeds
  • 1 Tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 Tbsp minced garlic

Radish Salad Bibimbap Ingredients

  • 2/3 bowl warm rice
  • Prepared radish salad
  • 1/2 Tbsp gochujang (Korean chili paste)
  • Toasted sesame seeds (for garnish)
  • Sesame oil (for drizzling)
  • 1 egg
  • Cooking oil (vegetable oil recommended)
  • Shredded seaweed (gim)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

1. Preparing the Radish Salad – Basic Ingredients
First, prepare about 200g of fresh autumn radish. Wash the radish thoroughly, peel it, and slice it thinly into about 3-5mm thick pieces. Then, cut these into strips about 5cm long. Slicing the radish vertically will ensure the strips are of uniform thickness, leading to a better texture. Finely chop 1/2 stalk of green onion and set aside.

Step 2

2. Seasoning and Mixing for Flavor
Place the julienned radish and chopped green onion in a bowl. Add 2 Tbsp of fine gochugaru, 2 Tbsp of rice vinegar, 2 Tbsp of fish sauce, and 1 Tbsp of minced garlic. Next, add 1 Tbsp of toasted sesame seeds and 1 Tbsp of sesame oil. Gently mix everything with your hands, crumbling the ingredients until the seasoning is evenly distributed. Be careful not to mix too vigorously, as this can release excess water from the radish, making the salad watery. Your delicious radish salad is now complete!

Step 2

Step 3

3. Making Radish Salad Bibimbap – Preparing the Fried Egg
Now, let’s make bibimbap using the radish salad! First, prepare a fried egg. Heat a generous amount of cooking oil (vegetable oil adds a nice nutty flavor) in a frying pan. Carefully crack the egg into the pan and fry it to your preference, whether sunny-side up or fully cooked.

Step 4

4. Completing the Hearty Bibimbap
In a clean bowl, place 2/3 bowl of warm rice. Generously top the rice with the prepared radish salad. Sprinkle with crispy shredded seaweed and toasted sesame seeds. Finally, drizzle a little sesame oil for added aroma and flavor. For an extra kick, you can add 1/2 Tbsp of gochujang and mix it all together. Top with the golden-fried egg, and your nutritious and delicious radish salad bibimbap is ready to enjoy!
