Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Before you start cooking, prepare all the necessary ingredients. Having everything ready will make the cooking process much smoother.
Step 2
1. Finely chop the Altarimoo kimchi into bite-sized pieces. If the pieces are too large, they might affect the texture when stir-frying.
2. Slit the green onion in half lengthwise, then finely chop it. This helps release maximum onion aroma.
3. Slice the whole bacon into approximately 1cm thick pieces. The rendered fat from the bacon will add a wonderful flavor to the fried rice.
Step 3
Heat a little cooking oil in a pan over medium-low heat. Add the chopped green onions and stir-fry gently until fragrant. Cooking the green onions until their sweet aroma is released will deepen the base flavor of your fried rice.
Step 4
Once the green onions are fragrant, add the sliced bacon and chopped Altarimoo kimchi. Stir-fry together over medium heat. The bacon should start to turn golden brown and release its fat.
Step 5
When the Altarimoo and bacon are partially cooked, pour in the 1/2 cup of kimchi juice and stir-fry quickly over high heat. As the liquid from the kimchi juice evaporates, the ingredients will meld together beautifully. Be careful not to let it burn!
Step 6
Now it’s time to add the seasonings that will enhance the fried rice’s flavor. First, add 1/2 tablespoon of oyster sauce to provide a savory umami boost.
Step 7
Next, add 1/2 tablespoon of sugar. This will help balance the tanginess of the Altarimoo kimchi and create an overall harmony of flavors.
Step 8
Add a pinch of black pepper to your liking. Black pepper will further elevate the aroma and taste of the fried rice.
Step 9
Finally, add 1 tablespoon of gochugaru (Korean chili flakes) for a touch of spiciness. You can adjust the amount based on the spiciness of your Altarimoo kimchi and your personal preference.
Step 10
Stir-fry again over high heat to ensure all the seasonings are evenly incorporated into the ingredients. It’s important to mix well so the flavors are distributed throughout.
Step 11
Now it’s time to add the star of the fried rice: the cooked rice. Add the rice to the pan and use your spatula to break up any clumps, stir-frying over medium heat until the rice grains are separated and fluffy. The key is to keep stirring to prevent the rice from sticking to the pan.
Step 12
We’re in the final stage! Just before turning off the heat, add 2 tablespoons of butter. Once the butter melts, quickly mix it into the rice. The rich, buttery aroma will spread throughout the fried rice, creating an even more decadent flavor.
Step 13
Transfer the finished fried rice to a serving plate. Generously top with mozzarella cheese, then microwave for about 2 minutes and 30 seconds, or until the cheese is fully melted and bubbly. The melted, golden cheese will create a fantastic harmony with the fried rice.
Step 14
Your crispy Altarimoo cheese fried rice, packed with flavor and texture, is now ready! Enjoy your delicious meal.
