Crispy Air Fryer Sweet Potato Chips Recipe
Super Easy Air Fryer Sweet Potato Chips: Healthy and Delicious Homemade Snack
While roasted sweet potatoes are wonderful, sometimes you crave the satisfying crunch of sweet potato chips! With just a few ingredients and your air fryer, you can easily make healthy and delicious sweet potato snacks right at home. They’re perfect for kids’ snacks or for enjoying as a delightful treat when hunger strikes.
Main Ingredients- 2-3 medium-sized sweet potatoes
- A little olive oil (optional)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Thoroughly wash the sweet potatoes, using a brush to remove all dirt. Since we’re using the skin, it’s important to wash them meticulously. Slice the washed sweet potatoes as thinly and uniformly as possible, about 2-3mm thick. The thinner the slices, the crispier the chips will be. Soak the sliced sweet potatoes in cold water for about 5 minutes to remove excess starch, then drain them well. This prevents the chips from sticking together and helps them crisp up beautifully.
Step 2
Arrange the completely dried sweet potato slices in a single layer in your air fryer basket or on an oven-safe tray, making sure they don’t overlap. If you’d like to add a bit more flavor, lightly drizzle a tiny amount of olive oil over the slices and gently toss them to coat each piece. However, you can certainly skip the oil if you prefer or don’t have it; the chips will still be delicious without it.
Step 3
Place the sweet potato slices in the air fryer basket and cook at 180°C (350°F) for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, carefully remove the basket and flip or rearrange the sweet potato chips to ensure even cooking. Return the basket to the air fryer and reduce the temperature to 170°C (340°F) for another 10 minutes. Keep in mind that cooking times and temperatures may vary depending on the thickness of your sweet potato slices and your specific air fryer model. Monitor the chips closely during the last few minutes to prevent burning. They are ready when they turn golden brown and feel firm and crisp to the touch.
