Easy Homemade French Fries with Leftover Potatoes in the Air Fryer
Hello everyone! Today, I’ll show you a super easy way to make delicious french fries using leftover potatoes you have at home! Enjoy crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, golden fries that everyone loves, made conveniently at home.
Ingredients- 2 medium potatoes
- 1 Tbsp salt
- 0.5 Tbsp black pepper
- 1 Tbsp melted butter or olive oil
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare 2 potatoes that will be the base for your delicious fries. It’s important to wash them thoroughly as the skins contain many nutrients. If there are any blemishes, you can gently peel them off with a peeler for a cleaner look.
Step 2
Peel the potatoes to make the french fries softer and more enjoyable. Using a vegetable peeler makes removing the skin quick and easy.
Step 3
Now, cut the potatoes into bite-sized pieces. Cutting them into sticks about 1cm thick, similar to store-bought fries, will help them cook evenly and become crispy in the air fryer. Avoid cutting them too thin, especially if children will be eating them.
Step 4
Soak the cut potatoes in cold water for about 30 minutes. This process removes excess starch from the surface, which prevents them from becoming soggy and helps achieve a crispier texture. Changing the water once during soaking can be even more effective.
Step 5
After 30 minutes, drain the potatoes and spread them out on paper towels or a clean kitchen cloth. Thoroughly drying them is the secret to achieving crispiness. If any moisture remains, the fries can become greasy and soggy when cooked, so gently pat them dry until they are completely dry.
Step 6
If even a little moisture remains, the fries can turn out soggy, so it’s highly recommended to be meticulous with this drying step. Pay extra attention to drying the cut surfaces.
Step 7
Place the dried potatoes into a resealable bag or a large bowl. Add 1 tablespoon of salt, 0.5 tablespoon of black pepper, and 1 tablespoon of melted butter or olive oil. Seal the bag and shake well, or toss them in the bowl to ensure the seasonings coat the potatoes evenly. The butter or olive oil will coat the potato surface, adding a richer flavor and crispier texture.
Step 8
Preheat your air fryer to 180°C (350°F). Once preheated, spread the seasoned potatoes in a single layer in the air fryer basket, ensuring they don’t overlap. Cook at 180°C (350°F) for about 15 minutes, then shake the basket every 5 minutes, turning the fries to ensure they cook evenly and turn golden brown. In about 20-25 minutes, you’ll have delicious french fries that are crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Adjust the cooking time according to your preference!
