Today, we’re offering a preview of a festive Christmas table setting. I prepared this in advance because my husband’s birthday falls on Christmas. If you’re wondering how to set your table for a special occasion, this could be a great source of inspiration.

While we eat rice every day, let’s make mealtime special on holidays! Our family isn’t fond of going out, so we decided to create a unique dining experience at home. I even took up baking and consulted many cookbooks. Through this, I realized that the easiest and simplest methods are the best! Nowadays, sauces and ingredients are so readily available, aren’t they? Let’s make delicious food easily by making great use of these convenient ingredients! We can do it! ^^

First, boil the ravioli in water with a little olive oil and salt until tender. In a separate pan, heat some olive oil and sauté shiitake mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, and bacon until lightly browned. Season lightly with pepper, then add Fontana cream cheese sauce and simmer briefly before turning off the heat. Stir in the boiled ravioli and arugula. For an extra flavor boost, finely chopped green onions can be added to cut through the richness.

Arrange fresh cucumber slices, cherry tomatoes, vibrant pomegranate seeds, sweet strawberries, crisp radishes, and fresh arugula on a platter. Drizzle with a tangy lemon dressing you’ve prepared yourself for a refreshing salad that awakens the palate. Whisk together lemon juice, olive oil, a touch of honey or sugar, salt, and pepper to your taste.

This salad differs from the previous one as it features a unique yuzu dressing. Combine sweet and aromatic yuzu zest with vinegar and minced garlic, then mix well. Drizzle generously over the salad for a bright and exotic flavor. The sweetness of the yuzu, the tanginess of the vinegar, and the subtle pungency of the garlic create a harmonious blend.

I had some leftover melon from my daughter’s birthday, which I froze. It wasn’t as flavorful when eaten plain, so I wondered how to use it. My daughter suggested making a smoothie with melon bars! So, I blended frozen melon, homemade yogurt, milk, and three melon bars. The taste was absolutely superb! If you have any less-than-perfect melons at home, give this smoothie a try. It’s refreshingly sweet and delicious, a hit with kids too! ^^

You might notice rice on the table but no side dishes. My daughter had already finished taking photos before I could arrange them! For those who might need a rice accompaniment, I’ve prepared a simple rice roll recipe. Season cooked brown rice with a sweet vinegar mixture. Fill it with crisp vegetables and savory squid jerky. Finally, roll it up with thinly sliced cucumber and crispy baked bacon for an elegant roll that complements the table setting. It’s a simple take on ‘ssambap’ (rice wraps) designed to fit the party theme.

Cut out the crusts from slices of bread to create round buns. Grill a pre-made hamburger steak (I used one from Homeplus) until nicely browned. Stack the patty onto the bread along with slices of fresh onion, tomato, crisp lettuce, and tangy pickles for a satisfying homemade burger. It’s a simple yet impressive dish that adds to the festive atmosphere.
