Creamy Pasta-Style Mixed Noodles
A Deliciously Creamy Cold Noodle Dish with Mayonnaise and Somyeon Noodles
As someone who absolutely loves noodles, I often find myself making them. Today, I’m excited to share a recipe for somyeon noodles dressed in a creamy mayonnaise sauce, giving them a delightful pasta-like feel. It’s a unique twist that’s perfect for any noodle lover!
Main Ingredients- Somyeon noodles 150g (1 serving)
- Smoked chicken breast 50g
- 1/2 Onion
- 4 Cloves garlic
Creamy Sauce- 4 Tbsp Mayonnaise
- 1 Tbsp Soy sauce
- 2 tsp Sugar
For Sautéing- 2 Tbsp Olive oil
- 3 Tbsp Water
- 10 Fresh rosemary leaves
- 4 Tbsp Mayonnaise
- 1 Tbsp Soy sauce
- 2 tsp Sugar
For Sautéing- 2 Tbsp Olive oil
- 3 Tbsp Water
- 10 Fresh rosemary leaves
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Begin by preparing all your ingredients. Thinly slice the 50g of smoked chicken breast. Mince the 4 cloves of garlic by slicing them thinly first, and finely chop the 1/2 onion after peeling. This preparation helps all the ingredients meld beautifully together.
Step 2
Heat 2 Tbsp of olive oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Add the sliced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Then, add the finely chopped onion and sauté until it becomes translucent and soft. Sautéing the onion well will bring out its natural sweetness.
Step 3
Add the sliced chicken breast and 3 Tbsp of water to the pan with the sautéed onions and garlic. Toss in the 10 fresh rosemary leaves for an aromatic touch. Cover the pan, reduce the heat to low, and simmer for about 5 minutes. This gentle cooking makes the chicken breast tender and infuses it with rosemary aroma. Turn off the heat after 5 minutes.
Step 4
Carefully remove some of the cooked chicken breast and sliced garlic from the pan to set aside as a topping. Arrange these attractively on a small plate. This step enhances the visual appeal of the final dish.
Step 5
Meanwhile, bring a pot of water to a boil over medium heat. Add 150g of somyeon noodles and gently separate them so they don’t stick together while cooking.
Step 6
As the water boils, add about 1/4 cup of cold water each time it rises to a boil, repeating this process three times. This ‘shocking’ method helps cook the noodles perfectly al dente. Once the noodles are cooked to your desired firmness (slightly chewy), drain them immediately and rinse thoroughly under cold running water to remove excess starch. Drain well in a colander. This ensures the noodles are springy and don’t clump.
Step 7
While the noodles are cooking, prepare the sauce. In a blender or using an immersion blender, combine the sautéed onions, garlic, and the chicken breast (excluding the reserved topping). Add 4 Tbsp of mayonnaise, 1 Tbsp of soy sauce, and 2 tsp of sugar. Blend until smooth and creamy. This creates a rich, velvety sauce.
Step 8
In a large bowl, combine the well-drained somyeon noodles. Pour the prepared mayonnaise sauce over the noodles. Gently toss the noodles and sauce together, ensuring every strand is evenly coated. Mix thoroughly for the sauce to fully incorporate.
Step 9
Transfer the sauced noodles to a serving plate. Garnish with the reserved sautéed chicken breast and garlic slices. Your creamy pasta-style mixed noodles are now ready! Enjoy this unique and flavorful dish for a delightful change.
