  • Noodle Tteokbokki (rice cakes) 3kg
  • King Oyster Mushrooms 400g
  • Onions 500g
  • Bacon 400g
  • Cheongyang Peppers (Korean chili peppers) about 15
  • Olive Oil 3 ladles (approx. 3 Tbsp)
  • Minced Garlic 1 ladle (approx. 1 Tbsp)
  • Salt to taste
  • Black Pepper to taste
  • Water a little
  • Whipping Cream 1000ml
  • Milk 1400ml
  • Parmesan Cheese Powder 2 Tbsp
  • Cheddar Cheese Slices 5
  • Parsley Flakes to garnish

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

1. Prepare the Noodle Tteokbokki: First, rinse the noodle tteokbokki thoroughly under running water. Drain them in a colander; this will make them easier to cook.

Step 1

Step 2

2. Prepare Vegetables & Bacon: Now, let’s chop the vegetables and bacon for our tteokbokki! (๑◔‿◔๑) Start by slicing 500g of onions thinly.

Step 2

Step 3

3. Slice 400g of king oyster mushrooms into bite-sized pieces. You can make them a bit larger if you prefer.

Step 3

Step 4

4. Finely chop about 15 Cheongyang peppers to add a pleasant spicy kick. Feel free to add more if you like it spicier!

Step 4

Step 5

5. Cut 400g of delicious bacon into manageable pieces. This will add wonderful flavor and richness.

Step 5

Step 6

6. All your ingredients are now prepped and ready to go! ( •ᴗ•)

Step 6

Step 7

7. Make the Carbonara Sauce – Sauté Aromatics: Heat 3 ladles (about 3 Tbsp) of olive oil in a large wok or deep pan over medium-low heat. Add 1 ladle (about 1 Tbsp) of minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.

Step 7

Step 8

8. Once the garlic is fragrant, add the 400g of chopped bacon. Cook until it’s nicely browned and has rendered some of its fat, which adds great flavor.

Step 8

Step 9

9. When the bacon is cooked, add the 500g of sliced onions. Sauté until they become translucent and slightly sweet. The sweetness of the onions deepens the sauce’s flavor.

Step 9

Step 10

10. Next, add the 400g of sliced king oyster mushrooms and cook until they soften. The mushrooms add a delightful chewy texture.

Step 10

Step 11

11. Season lightly with salt. Remember that bacon is already salty, so taste as you go and adjust the saltiness accordingly.

Step 11

Step 12

12. Sprinkle in some black pepper for an extra layer of flavor. Chop chop!

Step 12

Step 13

13. Add a small amount of water (about 100ml) and use your spatula to scrape up any delicious bits stuck to the bottom of the wok. This adds depth to the sauce.

Step 13

Step 14

14. Pour in 1000ml of whipping cream. This is the base for our rich and creamy carbonara sauce.

Step 14

Step 15

15. Now, add the 1400ml of milk. The combination of cream and milk creates a wonderfully smooth and luscious sauce.

Step 15

Step 16

16. Stir in the chopped Cheongyang peppers (about 15). Their slight heat beautifully balances the richness of the carbonara.

Step 16

Step 17

17. Bring the sauce to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low and let it cook gently. The sauce will start to thicken slightly.

Step 17

Step 18

18. Add the drained noodle tteokbokki to the sauce. Stir gently and frequently to ensure the rice cakes are evenly coated and don’t stick together. Cook until they are tender.

Step 18

Step 19

19. As the tteokbokki cooks in the sauce, lay 5 slices of cheddar cheese on top. Let them melt, adding even more creaminess and flavor. (We’ll add one more slice later! hehe)

Step 19

Step 20

20. Although not captured in the video, stir in 2 tablespoons of Parmesan cheese powder for that authentic carbonara depth. ◔‸◔

Step 20

Step 21

21. Voilà! Your creamy and delicious Carbonara Noodle Tteokbokki is ready! ٩(๑´0`๑)۶

Step 21

Step 22
