Essential Ingredients

  • 5 crab sticks (shredded or finely chopped)
  • 10 seasoned fried tofu pouches for sushi
  • 1 Tbsp Mayonnaise
  • 1 Tbsp Mustard Sauce
  • 1 Tbsp Sesame Oil
  • 1 bowl of cooked rice (warm)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare the crab sticks. Gently shred them by hand or finely chop them with a knife. If the crab sticks are difficult to shred, microwaving them for about 20 seconds will soften them, making them much easier to tear apart. In a bowl, combine the prepared crab sticks with 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise and 1 tablespoon of mustard sauce. Mix well to create the flavorful crab filling.

Step 1

Step 2

Next, prepare the seasoned fried tofu pouches for sushi. Lightly drain any excess liquid from the tofu pouches. Briefly blanch them in boiling water for about 10-20 seconds. After blanching, rinse the tofu pouches under cold water and gently squeeze out the moisture. Blanching the tofu pouches helps prevent them from tearing when you fill them with rice and makes them more tender. Be careful not to over-blanch, as the pouches might become too loose.

Step 2

Step 3

Prepare 1 bowl of warm cooked rice. Add the seasoning mix and sushi vinegar from the store-bought inari sushi kit to the rice. Stir in 1 tablespoon of sesame oil to enhance the aroma and flavor. Mix everything thoroughly to create the delicious sushi rice. Here’s a tip: you can add sautéed ground meat (beef or chicken) or finely chopped favorite vegetables to the rice for a more diverse flavor profile. Feel free to customize the rice seasoning to your liking!

Step 3

Step 4

Now it’s time to fill the tofu pouches with the prepared sushi rice. Fill each tofu pouch about 80% full with the seasoned rice. Then, generously add the prepared crab filling on top. Layering the rice and crab filling makes the sushi visually appealing and enhances the overall taste. It’s best to shred the crab sticks thinly so they blend well with the rice and fit easily into the pouch, creating a neat appearance. Fill the pouch by adding the rice first, followed by the crab mixture.
