Easy and Flavorful Rolled Omelet with Crab Stick and Chives
This is a simple and delicious rolled omelet recipe perfect for days when you don’t have many side dishes. Today, we’re making it with crab sticks and chives. It’s a quick way to add a flavorful and visually appealing dish to your meal, great for lunchboxes or as a light snack.
Ingredients- 5 large eggs
- 2 sticks of imitation crab meat (kani)
- 1/4 cup finely chopped fresh chives
- 1/2 red chili pepper, seeds removed and finely minced
- A little cooking oil for the pan
Seasoning- 1 teaspoon fish sauce (or anchovy sauce)
- 1 teaspoon fish sauce (or anchovy sauce)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the aromatics and color. Finely mince half a red chili pepper after removing the seeds. Finely chop the fresh chives. Mincing them finely ensures they distribute evenly in the egg mixture for a more pleasant texture.
Step 2
Next, shred or finely chop the imitation crab sticks. Cutting them into small pieces will help them mix evenly into the egg batter, ensuring you get a bit of crab in every bite.
Step 3
In a mixing bowl, crack the 5 large eggs. Whisk them gently until well combined, breaking up the yolks and whites. Add the minced red chili pepper and chopped chives to the egg mixture. These additions will bring vibrant color and a fresh aroma.
Step 4
Now, add the chopped imitation crab sticks and 1 teaspoon of fish sauce (for savory depth) to the egg mixture. Gently stir everything together until just combined. Be careful not to overmix, as this can make the omelet tough.
Step 5
Heat a non-stick skillet over medium-low heat. Add a little cooking oil and spread it evenly across the pan with a paper towel. Pour a ladleful of the egg mixture into the pan, tilting it to create a thin, even layer.
Step 6
As the edges of the egg layer begin to set, gently start rolling it from one end towards the other. Use a spatula or chopsticks to lift and fold the cooked portion over. Continue to cook and roll, adding more egg mixture if desired for a thicker roll.
Step 7
Once the omelet is rolled, continue to cook it gently on all sides, including the ends, until it’s cooked through and lightly golden. You can gently press the sides with your spatula to ensure even cooking and a neat shape.
Step 8
Remove the rolled omelet from the pan and let it cool slightly on a cutting board or plate. Allowing it to cool for a few minutes before slicing will prevent it from falling apart. Slice into bite-sized pieces and serve. Enjoy your delicious crab stick and chive rolled omelet!
