Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Let’s get started on making some delicious vegetable nude gimbap! It’s a fun and visually appealing dish that everyone will love.
Step 2
First, prepare all your gimbap fillings according to your preference. Julienne the carrots and lightly sauté them. Blanch the spinach, squeeze out excess water, and season lightly with salt and sesame oil. For the eggs, make thin omelets (separating yolks and whites if desired), then slice them into strips. Cut the imitation crab sticks and ham into manageable strips as well. Drain the pickled radish. In a bowl, combine the cooked rice with salt, sesame oil, and toasted sesame seeds. Mix gently to ensure the rice grains don’t get mashed.
Step 3
Lay a bamboo sushi mat on your work surface. Place a sheet of seaweed (gim) on top, shiny side down. Spread the seasoned rice thinly and evenly over the seaweed, leaving about a 1cm border at the top edge. This border will help seal the roll. Spreading the rice thinly is key to achieving a good nude gimbap. Arrange your prepared fillings in a neat line across the rice, closer to the edge nearest to you. Be careful not to overfill, as this can cause the roll to break apart.
Step 4
Using the bamboo mat, carefully lift the edge closest to you and roll it over the fillings, tucking them in tightly. Continue rolling, applying gentle pressure to create a firm cylinder. If needed, you can lightly moisten the top border of the seaweed with water to help seal the roll completely. Once rolled, slice the gimbap into bite-sized pieces, about 1.5cm thick. For an extra touch, brush the cut surfaces lightly with sesame oil for added aroma and shine.
Step 5
Voila! Your vibrant and delicious vegetable nude gimbap is ready. Enjoy the wonderful combination of fresh vegetables and perfectly seasoned rice in every bite. It’s a fantastic and healthy option for any meal!
