Soboro Rice Bowl Ingredients- 100g ground pork
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup napa cabbage kimchi (approx. 150g)
- 1/2 cup chives (approx. 50g)
- 1/2 Tbsp toasted sesame seeds
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Prepare the bowl for your Soboro Rice Bowl. Spread a thin layer of cooked rice at the bottom of the serving bowl. You can use a square-shaped bowl for a more aesthetically pleasing presentation, or a deep bowl if you prefer to mix everything together before eating. Choose the bowl that best suits your preference.
Step 2
First, let’s make the delicious scrambled eggs. Add about 1/2 Tbsp of perilla oil to a pan and preheat over medium-low heat. Crack in the 2 eggs. Once the egg whites begin to set slightly, gently stir them with chopsticks. Season with a tiny pinch of salt to your taste, keeping in mind the saltiness of the chives and kimchi you’ll be adding later.
Step 3
Once the scrambled eggs are cooked, arrange them attractively over the rice you’ve already placed in the bowl. The bright yellow scrambled eggs will add a tempting color to the dish.
Step 4
Now, it’s time to stir-fry the ground pork. After cooking the eggs, gently wipe the pan with a paper towel. Add the 100g of ground pork to the pan. You don’t need to add extra oil, as the pork’s natural fat will be sufficient for cooking.
Step 5
Let’s make a tasty stir-fried kimchi. Before stir-frying the kimchi, wipe the pan used for the pork clean again with a paper towel. Add the finely chopped napa cabbage kimchi to the pan and stir-fry it slowly over low heat. If your kimchi is very ripe and has a strong sourness, be sure to add 1/2 Tbsp of sugar. This will balance the sourness and harmonize the overall flavor of the rice bowl. Taste as you cook and add more sugar if the sourness is still too prominent.
Step 6
Once the kimchi is nicely stir-fried, arrange it beautifully over the rice. The sweet and spicy stir-fried kimchi will create a wonderful contrast with the rice.
Step 7
Finally, top the rice bowl with the freshly chopped chives. With the addition of red kimchi, yellow eggs, and green chives, your ‘Colorful Soboro Rice Bowl’ is complete! The vibrant colors add visual appeal to your meal.
Step 8
For an extra touch of flavor, sprinkle 1/2 Tbsp of toasted sesame seeds over the top. This will add a lovely nutty aroma and enhance the overall taste.
