  • Cooking Time : Within 15 minutes
  • Difficulty : Anyone

Main Ingredients

  • 400g Store-bought Seafood Dong-geu-rang-ttaeng patties
  • 4 Eggs
  • 1 Red chili pepper
  • 1 Green chili pepper

Seasonings & Others

  • 1 pinch Salt
  • 4 Tbsp Sunflower oil (or cooking oil)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, crack 4 eggs into a bowl. Add a pinch of salt and whisk them thoroughly until the stringy bits are completely broken down, creating an egg wash. Tip: Whisking the egg wash about 10 minutes in advance allows the egg whites to relax, resulting in a smoother coating.

Step 1

Step 2

Wash the red and green chili peppers (or Korean Cheongyang peppers), remove their stems, and slice them thinly on an angle. Use a spoon to scrape out the seeds for a cleaner look.

Step 2

Step 3

Prepare the store-bought Dong-geu-rang-ttaeng patties. If they are frozen, transfer them to the refrigerator the night before cooking to thaw naturally. This method preserves their shape and moisture, making them tastier.

Step 3

Step 4

Heat 2 tablespoons of sunflower oil in a wide pan over medium-low heat. Dip each thawed Dong-geu-rang-ttaeng patty into the prepared egg wash, ensuring it’s evenly coated. Place the egg-coated patties in the pan. Then, artistically place a slice of red and green chili pepper on top of each patty.

Step 4

Step 5

After placing the chili pepper garnishes, use a spoon to drizzle a little extra egg wash over and around the chili peppers. This helps the garnishes adhere better and adds to the appealing appearance.

Step 5

Step 6

Once the bottom side is golden brown, carefully flip the Dong-geu-rang-ttaeng patties with a spatula. Gently press down with the spatula as you cook to ensure even browning. Be careful not to overcook the side with the chili garnish; they can lose their vibrant color and look less appealing if cooked for too long.

Step 6

Step 7

These colorful and beautifully pan-fried Dong-geu-rang-ttaeng are as delightful to look at as they are to eat. Just like the saying ‘pretty food tastes better,’ the vibrant colors of these patties will stimulate appetites, especially for children. They make an excellent side dish for lunchboxes or a festive addition to holiday meals.
