- Salted fermented shrimp (saeujeot)
- Stir-fried salt (or sea salt, if needed)
- Minced garlic 1/2 Tbsp
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, rinse the bean sprouts thoroughly under running water. Washing them carefully will help create a clear and flavorful broth.
Step 2
In a pot, add 1500ml of water and a handful of dried anchovies. Simmer over medium heat for 10 minutes to create a delicious broth. Once the anchovies have infused their flavor, remove them all to create a clean soup base.
Step 3
Add the washed bean sprouts to the pot. Cover with a lid and simmer over medium heat for 5-7 minutes. The refreshing broth released from the cooking bean sprouts is wonderful. Check the doneness by opening and closing the lid.
Step 4
Once the bean sprouts are cooked to your liking, add 1/2 Tbsp of minced garlic to enhance the aroma. Garlic adds depth and makes the soup even more delicious.
Step 5
Now it’s time to season. Add salted fermented shrimp for umami and adjust the taste with stir-fried salt (or sea salt) to your preference. You can also use soy sauce for seasoned broth (guk-ganjang) instead of salted fermented shrimp.
Step 6
Simmer for another moment to allow all the flavors to meld, and your refreshing and delicious bean sprout soup is complete! Enjoy it hot for the best taste.
