Ingredients
- 4 slices of bread
- 4 slices of thick-cut bacon
- Generous amount of fresh lettuce (or romaine lettuce)
- 2 fresh eggs
- 1 ripe tomato
- 2 slices of cheddar cheese
- Holograin mustard, to taste
- Cream cheese (or mayonnaise), to taste
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Place the bacon slices in a cold pan without any oil. Cook over medium heat, turning occasionally, until golden brown and crispy. Gently press with paper towels to absorb any excess grease.
Step 2
Fry the eggs to your preference. A runny yolk is classic, but feel free to cook them through if you prefer. Season lightly with pepper; salt isn’t necessary here. 🙂 (If you don’t like runny yolks, cook them until fully done.)
Step 3
Wash the lettuce leaves thoroughly and pat them completely dry. Romaine lettuce offers a wonderful crunch. Wash the tomato and slice it into approximately 0.5 cm thick rounds.
Step 4
Prepare two slices of cheddar cheese for layering.
Step 5
Toast your bread slices until golden brown and slightly crisp. Spread a layer of cream cheese on one slice of toast and a layer of whole grain mustard on the other. (Mayonnaise is a delicious alternative to cream cheese!)
Step 6
On the bread slice with whole grain mustard, generously layer the fresh lettuce. Top with the tomato slices, fried egg, crispy bacon, and cheddar cheese, in that order.
Step 7
Place the cream cheese-spread bread slice on top to complete the sandwich. Wrap it tightly in parchment paper or plastic wrap, then carefully slice it in half with a serrated knife. Your beautiful and delicious BLT sandwich is ready to enjoy! 🙂
