Chewy & Sweet Sangtu Cookies (Guri Balls)
Traditional Korean Pastry, Old-fashioned Snack
These ‘Sangtu Cookies’, also known as ‘Guri Balls’, are incredibly easy to make but boast a wonderfully delicious taste! They have a slightly crisp exterior and a chewy, sweet interior, reminiscent of nostalgic flavors from the past. Their cute shape also makes them perfect for gifting.
Basic Ingredients- 500g White Bean Paste
- 18g Egg Yolk (approx. 1 yolk)
- 20-30g Honey (adjust sweetness to taste)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
In a bowl, combine the white bean paste (500g), egg yolk (18g), and honey (20-30g). You can adjust the amount of honey to your preference. Use a spatula or your hands to thoroughly mix and knead the ingredients until smooth and free of lumps. The dough is ready when it has a smooth, non-sticky consistency.
Step 2
Fit a piping bag with a round tip. Fill the piping bag with the prepared dough. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it. Pipe the dough onto the baking sheet in round shapes, leaving a small gap between each cookie to prevent them from sticking together as they bake.
Step 3
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Bake for 25 to 30 minutes. Baking time may vary depending on your oven. Check the bottom of the cookies; they are ready when they turn a light golden brown. Once removed from the oven and slightly cooled, you’ll have delicious Sangtu cookies with a crisp exterior and a chewy center.
