- Pinch of salt
- 1 bowl of black rice
- 50g baby greens
- 2 green onions
- 0.5 Tbsp black sesame seeds
Seasoning Ingredients- 1 Tbsp soy sauce
- 1.5 Tbsp gochujang (Korean chili paste)
- 1 Tbsp minced garlic
- 1 Tbsp sesame oil
- 1 Tbsp maple syrup
- Pinch of black pepper
- 1 Tbsp soy sauce
- 1.5 Tbsp gochujang (Korean chili paste)
- 1 Tbsp minced garlic
- 1 Tbsp sesame oil
- 1 Tbsp maple syrup
- Pinch of black pepper
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, gently wipe the king oyster mushrooms with a paper towel to clean them. Then, use two forks to shred the mushrooms lengthwise, following their natural grain. This technique will create a wonderfully chewy, meat-like texture. Aim for pieces that are not too thin.
Step 2
Finely chop the green onions. These will be used as a garnish on top of the rice bowl, so try to chop them evenly for a pleasant presentation.
Step 3
Now, let’s make the delicious seasoning! In a bowl, combine 1 Tbsp soy sauce, 1.5 Tbsp gochujang, 1 Tbsp minced garlic, and 1 Tbsp maple syrup. Whisk everything together until well combined. You’ll have a perfectly balanced sweet and spicy sauce.
Step 4
Heat a pan over medium heat and add 1 Tbsp of butter. Once the butter is melted, add the shredded king oyster mushrooms to the pan. Sauté them for a few minutes until they begin to soften and absorb the buttery flavor. Cook until the mushrooms release some of their moisture.
Step 5
Once the mushrooms are sautéed to your liking, pour the prepared seasoning sauce into the pan. Stir and toss the mushrooms to coat them evenly with the sauce. Continue to cook for about 2-3 minutes, stirring frequently to prevent sticking, until the sauce has thickened slightly and clung to the mushrooms.
Step 6
When the sauce has beautifully coated the mushrooms and they look glossy, turn off the heat. Stir in 1 Tbsp of sesame oil for an added nutty aroma and flavor. Mix everything together well.
Step 7
Assemble your rice bowl! Start by placing the cooked black rice in the bottom of a serving bowl. Arrange a generous layer of baby greens over the rice. Then, top with the saucy, sautéed king oyster mushrooms. The vibrant colors of the vegetables and mushrooms will make the dish look very appetizing.
Step 8
Finally, sprinkle the chopped green onions over the mushrooms, followed by 0.5 Tbsp of black sesame seeds for a nutty crunch. A pinch of black pepper can be added at the end for an extra layer of flavor. Your delicious King Oyster Mushroom Rice Bowl is now ready to enjoy!
