Introducing a special fusion waffle recipe that’s easy for anyone to make using a convenient Injeolmi Hotteok mix. The combination of waffles with the chewy texture of Injeolmi is truly delightful!
Waffle Batter Ingredients
- 1 pouch Injeolmi Hotteok Mix
- Warm water (refer to mix instructions)
- Yeast (included in the mix)
- Butter, a little (for greasing the waffle iron)
- Olive oil or cooking oil, a little (for the dough)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the warm water and yeast according to the instructions on the Injeolmi Hotteok mix pouch. In a large bowl, combine the mix powder and yeast. Add a little olive oil or cooking oil and begin to knead the dough. You can mix with your hands or use a spatula.
Step 2
Once the dough forms a cohesive mass, knead it thoroughly until it has a smooth surface. In this recipe, the dough was made slightly thick, which helps achieve the chewy texture of the Injeolmi. If it’s too wet, it might be difficult to handle in the waffle iron, so follow the water amount in the instructions as a guide, but adjust to your desired consistency.
Step 3
Divide the dough into bite-sized portions. Prepare the jam mix that came with the package and place a small amount in the center of each dough ball. Seal the dough around the jam to create a ball shape, ensuring the filling doesn’t leak out. You can also use red bean paste or custard cream instead of jam for a delicious variation.
Step 4
Preheat your waffle iron and lightly grease the surface with butter to prevent sticking. Place the prepared dough balls onto the waffle iron, close the lid, and cook until golden brown. The cooking time may vary depending on your waffle iron, so cook until you achieve a nice golden-brown color.

Important caution: The jam or red bean paste filling can become hot and may spurt out of the waffle iron. Be mindful of the filling amount to avoid overflow, and keep the area around the waffle iron clean for safety. If it seems like it might burst, slightly open the waffle iron to check and adjust the heat.
Step 6
Remove the cooked Injeolmi waffles from the iron and place them on a plate. If you’d like to add that characteristic nutty flavor, sprinkle some Injeolmi bean powder on top for garnish. Enjoy them warm right away for the best experience of crispy exterior and chewy interior!
