Main Ingredients
  • 1 handful of glass noodles (approx. 100g)
  • 1 sheet of fish cake
  • 1 stalk of green onion
  • A pinch of sesame seeds (for garnish)

Seasoning Ingredients
  • 2 Tbsp gochujang (Korean chili paste)
  • 1.5 Tbsp gochugaru (Korean chili powder)
  • 3 Tbsp sugar
  • 2 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 1/2 Tbsp minced garlic

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, let’s prepare the ingredients. Slice the green onion diagonally and cut the fish cake into bite-sized pieces. Having everything prepped makes the cooking process much smoother.

Step 2

Boil the glass noodles in plenty of water for 6-7 minutes. Be careful not to overcook them, as they can lose their chewy texture! Once cooked, drain them, rinse briefly under cold water to remove excess starch, which helps maintain that delightful chewiness.

Step 3

Now, let’s make the delicious sauce. In a small bowl, combine 2 Tbsp gochujang, 1.5 Tbsp gochugaru, 3 Tbsp sugar, 2 Tbsp soy sauce, and 1/2 Tbsp minced garlic. Mix them thoroughly. Having the sauce ready beforehand is a real time-saver.

Step 4

In a wide pan or pot, bring 3 paper cups of water to a boil. Once boiling, add the prepared sauce mixture and stir well until it’s fully dissolved and lump-free. This creates a flavorful base for the dish.

Step 5

When the sauce begins to bubble, add the prepared fish cake and let it cook for a moment. Then, add the boiled glass noodles and continue to cook. The noodles will start to absorb the flavorful sauce and plump up.

Step 6

Once the glass noodles have absorbed a good amount of sauce and the liquid has reduced to your liking, add the sliced green onions. Simmer for a little longer until the flavors meld together. The green onions will add a wonderful fragrance!

Step 7

Your chewy glass noodle stir-fry, a dish that rivals rabokki, is now complete! It looks incredibly appetizing.

Step 8

Take a bite and experience the perfect harmony of the sweet and spicy sauce with the delightfully chewy noodles. It’s truly an irresistible flavor!
