Main Ingredients

  • 4 King Oyster Mushrooms
  • 1/2 Green Onion
  • 2 Tbsp Cooking Oil
  • A pinch of Sesame Seeds

Bulgogi Marinade

  • 6 Tbsp Soy Sauce
  • 2 Tbsp Sugar
  • 5 Tbsp Mirin (or Rice Wine)
  • 1 Tbsp Minced Garlic
  • 3 Tbsp Sesame Oil

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, thoroughly wash the fresh king oyster mushrooms and pat them dry. Slice them into bite-sized pieces. Finely chop the green onion, preparing both the white and green parts for a fragrant addition.

Step 1

Step 2

In a mixing bowl, combine the sliced green onions and king oyster mushrooms. Add all the bulgogi marinade ingredients: soy sauce, sugar, mirin, minced garlic, and sesame oil. Mix well to ensure the sauce evenly coats the mushrooms and green onions.

Step 2

Step 3

Once the marinade is well mixed, add the sliced king oyster mushrooms. Gently toss them with your hands to help the marinade penetrate evenly. Let the mushrooms marinate for about 5 minutes; this allows the flavors to meld beautifully.

Step 3

Step 4

Heat 2 tablespoons of cooking oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the marinated mushrooms to the pan. It’s now ready to be stir-fried.

Step 4

Step 5

Stir-fry the mushrooms quickly over medium heat until they become slightly golden and the sauce thickens and glazes them. It’s important not to overcook them, as you want to maintain their chewy texture. If the sauce becomes too thick, you can add a splash of water.

Step 5

Step 6

Transfer the well-stir-fried king oyster mushroom dish to a serving plate. Finally, sprinkle a generous pinch of sesame seeds over the top for an extra nutty aroma and flavor. Your chewy and delicious King Oyster Mushroom Stir-fry is ready to be enjoyed!
