Acorn Jelly Ingredients

  • Acorn powder 1 paper cup
  • Water 6 paper cups
  • Salt 1 teaspoon
  • Sesame oil 1 tablespoon (for finishing)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

The golden ratio for delicious acorn jelly is 1 part acorn powder to 6 parts water. Using a paper cup makes measuring easy.

Step 1

Step 2

Pour the acorn powder and water into a wide pot. To create a smooth acorn jelly without lumps, it’s crucial to thoroughly mix the powder with a whisk or spatula until there are no clumps.

Step 2

Step 3

Add 1 teaspoon of fine salt to the mixture of acorn powder and water that has been well combined. Salt not only seasons the acorn jelly but also helps to achieve a firmer texture.

Step 3

Step 4

Stir again to dissolve the salt completely, then turn the heat to low. High heat can cause the jelly to burn or clump easily, so it must be cooked on low heat. Continuously stir in one direction while scraping the bottom of the pot with a spatula, and the mixture will gradually thicken and set.

Step 4

Step 5

The key is to dissolve the acorn powder thoroughly to prevent lumps! When the mixture becomes thick and starts to stick to the bottom of the pot, it’s almost ready. Prepare a clean stainless steel container to pour the finished acorn jelly into.

Step 5

Step 6

Carefully pour the hot acorn jelly mixture into the prepared stainless steel container and spread it evenly. Let it set at room temperature for about 5 hours, and your firm and delicious acorn jelly will be ready.

Step 6

Step 7

Cut the finished acorn jelly into bite-sized pieces. It’s delicious dipped in a sweet and savory soy sauce-based sauce, or a spicy chili powder sauce, and it’s also wonderful drizzled with just a little sesame oil. Enjoy your healthy and delicious homemade acorn jelly now!
