Ingredients- 400g Salted Sea Mustard Stems
- 2 Tbsp Minced Green Onion
- 1 Tbsp Minced Garlic
- 1 Tbsp Sugar
- A little Cooking Oil or Olive Oil
- A little Toasted Sesame Seeds
- A little Sesame Oil
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Rinse the salted sea mustard stems 2-3 times under cold water to remove any debris. Then, soak them in cold water for about 30 minutes. This process helps to remove excess saltiness and soften the stems, ensuring they are not bitter and are enjoyable to eat.
Step 2
Wash the green onion thoroughly and finely mince it. You’ll need 2 tablespoons of minced green onion. It’s also convenient to mince the garlic at this stage.
Step 3
Bring a pot of water to a boil. Add the prepared sea mustard stems and blanch them for 1-2 minutes. Avoid overcooking, as they can become mushy. Immediately rinse the blanched stems under cold water to stop the cooking process and cool them down.
Step 4
Drain the sea mustard stems well and cut them into bite-sized pieces, about 5-6 cm in length. Cutting them to a manageable size will make stir-frying easier.
Step 5
Heat a little oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Add the cut sea mustard stems and begin to stir-fry. Some moisture may be released from the stems, so continue stir-frying until most of the water has evaporated.
Step 6
Once the sea mustard stems are partially cooked, add 1 tablespoon of sugar and stir-fry together. The sugar will dissolve, adding a nice sheen and sweetness to the stems.
Step 7
Next, add 1 tablespoon of minced garlic and stir-fry until fragrant. When the garlic aroma is released, add the minced green onion and continue to stir-fry until all ingredients are well combined. Just before turning off the heat, sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds and drizzle a little sesame oil for a nutty aroma. Your delicious stir-fried sea mustard stems are ready! Serve them over warm rice and enjoy.
