Altoran Dried Seaweed Ban Recipe
Seaweed is a superfood that helps detoxify our bodies and supports bone health! It’s packed with alginic acid, excellent for expelling heavy metals, and abundant dietary fiber. Furthermore, it contains a high amount of calcium, essential for forming strong bones and teeth, potassium to stabilize the mind, and selenium, which may help inhibit cancer development, making it a highly beneficial food for everyone, young and old. Today, we’ll be making ‘Altoran Dried Seaweed Ban,’ a recipe perfected by the culinary master, Chef Pil Gam-san. This simple yet deeply flavorful dish is perfect for boosting both your health and your palate!
Essential Ingredients- 20g dried seaweed
- 1 Tbsp cooking oil
- 1 Tbsp perilla oil
- 2 Tbsp sugar
- 1 pinch roasted sesame seeds
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, the key to a chewy and delicious dried seaweed ban starts with choosing good quality seaweed. Prepare 20g of dried seaweed. If it’s already cut, you can use it as is. If it’s in large pieces, use scissors to cut it into bite-sized pieces, about 3-5 cm long. Cutting it too small might affect the texture, so aim for a moderate size.
Step 2
Now, for the frying step where the secret to flavor lies. Heat a pan over low heat. Add 1 tablespoon of cooking oil and 1 tablespoon of perilla oil – mixing these two oils adds a deeper flavor profile. Once the oils are evenly spread in the pan, add the dried seaweed and stir-fry for about 2-3 minutes, just enough to lightly crisp the outer layer, like a gentle fry. This process will evaporate the moisture, making the seaweed more fragrant and pleasantly chewy.
Step 3
To make your dried seaweed ban cleaner and tastier, it’s important to remove excess oil. Lay a few layers of paper towels on a plate. Carefully place the freshly fried warm seaweed onto the paper towels. Gently press down on the seaweed to absorb any remaining oil. This step ensures a non-greasy, perfectly balanced dried seaweed ban.
Step 4
It’s time to add sweetness for flavor enhancement. Sprinkle 2 tablespoons of sugar evenly over the oil-drained seaweed. Gently toss the seaweed to ensure the sugar coats it uniformly. This light sugar coating creates a delightful balance of savory and sweet flavors, making your seaweed ban irresistible.
Step 5
Now, let’s prepare the roasted sesame seeds to add a nutty aroma and delicious texture. If you have whole sesame seeds, grind them coarsely. This will release a burst of nutty flavor with every bite, enhancing the overall eating experience. You can use a mortar and pestle or a grinder for this. Be careful not to grind them too finely, as this can sometimes result in a slightly bitter taste.
Step 6
This is the final touch! Sprinkle about a pinch of the coarsely ground sesame seeds over the seaweed. The nutty aroma of the sesame will beautifully complement the flavor of the seaweed, elevating it even further. Gently mix everything together, and voilà – Chef Pil Gam-san’s Altoran Dried Seaweed Ban, packed with both health and flavor, is ready! It’s a wonderful side dish for rice and even makes a great simple snack or appetizer.
