Ingredients- 3 medium-sized potatoes
- 10g butter
- 3 Tbsp mashed Spam (or similar processed ham)
- 3 Tbsp cooking oil
- 3 Tbsp shredded mozzarella cheese (pizza blend)
- A pinch of dried parsley (for garnish)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, select 3 firm, fresh potatoes. Since we’ll be cooking them with the skins on, scrub them thoroughly with baking soda or coarse salt to remove any dirt. Make a cross-shaped incision on the top of each potato with a knife, not too deep. This helps them cook evenly and look appealing.
Step 2
Next, prepare aluminum foil. Wrapping the potatoes in foil will help them retain moisture and cook up nice and tender.
Step 3
Drizzle about 1 tablespoon of cooking oil evenly over the top of each potato, focusing on the cross-shaped cut you made. This adds flavor and ensures a moist surface during cooking.
Step 4
Now, carefully wrap each oiled potato securely in aluminum foil. Place the foil-wrapped potatoes into your air fryer basket. Cook at 180°C (356°F) for approximately 20 minutes. The cooking time may vary slightly depending on the size of your potatoes. You can check for doneness by inserting a fork or skewer; it should slide in easily.
Step 5
After 20 minutes, carefully remove the cooked potatoes from the air fryer. Be cautious as they will be hot. Keep them wrapped in the foil for a few minutes to cool slightly. Once they are cool enough to handle, carefully unwrap the aluminum foil completely.
Step 6
Using a spoon, gently scoop out the flesh from the cross-shaped incision you made earlier, creating a small well or cavity. Be careful not to scoop too deep, just enough to hold the fillings. This creates a perfect little pocket for our delicious toppings.
Step 7
Divide the 10g of butter into three equal portions. Place one portion of butter into the cavity of each potato. As the butter melts, it will infuse the potato with a wonderful richness.
Step 8
Next, spoon about 1 tablespoon of the mashed Spam (or your chosen processed ham) into each potato cavity, on top of the butter. The savory notes of the Spam will beautifully complement the sweet potato and buttery flavor.
Step 9
Now, generously sprinkle about 1 tablespoon of shredded mozzarella cheese over the Spam in each potato. The cheese will melt into a gooey, delightful topping.
Step 10
Finally, for a touch of color and fresh aroma, sprinkle a pinch of dried parsley over the cheese on each potato. This adds a lovely finishing touch.
Step 11
With the parsley sprinkled on top, your potatoes are ready for their final bake. Return them to the air fryer and cook at 180°C (356°F) for another 10 minutes. Cook until the cheese is golden and bubbly, and all the ingredients are heated through. Your delicious Cheesy Butter-Baked Whole Potatoes are now complete! Serve immediately for the best taste.
