Crispy Fried Beef Rolls with Mozzarella Cheese! Packed with Flavor and Nutrition!

Cheesy Beef Rolls: Crispy and Juicy Fried Delights

Today, I’ve prepared ‘Cheesy Beef Rolls’ using flavorful beef and stretchy mozzarella cheese. My daughter sometimes gets nosebleeds, and I’ve heard that beef is good for it, so I often make beef dishes for her. Usually, we enjoy beef sushi rolls as a special treat, but today I wanted to try something different – a crispy fried dish! My daughter absolutely loved it, especially the fun of the mozzarella cheese stretching as she bit into it. This recipe is perfect for a delightful snack or a special meal!

Recipe Info

  • Category : Main dish
  • Ingredient Category : Beef
  • Occasion : Everyday
  • Cooking : Deep-fry
  • Servings : 2 servings
  • Cooking Time : Within 30 minutes
  • Difficulty : Anyone

Ingredients

  • 500g thinly sliced beef (e.g., for bulgogi)
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 3 eggs
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour (for coating)
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • Plenty of cooking oil for deep frying

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare your thinly sliced beef. If the slices are very thin, gently press them with paper towels to flatten them out slightly. If this step feels too cumbersome, you can opt for slightly thicker cut beef (like for shabu-shabu). I chose the thinnest bulgogi-style slices for my 6-year-old daughter and carefully flattened each piece myself.

Step 1

Step 2

Next, place a generous amount of mozzarella cheese onto each flattened slice of beef. Be mindful not to overfill; you need enough cheese to be enclosed by the beef. Adjust the amount so that the beef can completely wrap around it.

Step 2

Step 3

Carefully roll the beef around the mozzarella cheese, ensuring the cheese is fully enclosed and doesn’t spill out. While a single layer of beef works, using two or even three layers will greatly help prevent the cheese from leaking during frying. Additionally, using multiple layers of beef makes the final dish moister and more tender due to retained juices.

Step 3

Step 4

Now it’s time to coat the rolled beef. Prepare three shallow dishes: one with all-purpose flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with breadcrumbs. Dredge each beef roll first in the flour, tapping off any excess. Then, dip it into the beaten egg mixture, ensuring it’s fully coated. Finally, roll it generously in the breadcrumbs, pressing gently to help them adhere.

Step 4

Step 5

After coating each beef roll in flour, egg, and breadcrumbs, place them neatly on a plate. They are now ready for frying! Prepare a serving platter by lining it with paper towels to absorb excess oil from the fried rolls. Once ready, let’s move on to frying!

Step 5

Step 6

Heat a generous amount of cooking oil in a deep frying pan or pot over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot (around 170-180°C or 340-350°F), carefully lower the breaded beef rolls into the oil. You don’t need to fully submerge the rolls; having about one-third of the roll covered in oil is sufficient, as you can turn them frequently to ensure even cooking.

Step 6

Step 7

Fry the beef rolls, turning them occasionally, until they are golden brown and crispy on all sides. Make sure to fry them until the beef is cooked through and the breadcrumbs are a beautiful deep golden color. Pay special attention to frying the ends and any exposed seams to ensure they are also perfectly cooked and crisp.

Step 7

Step 8

Once perfectly golden brown and crispy, remove the fried beef rolls from the oil and place them on the prepared platter lined with paper towels. Listen to that satisfying crunch!

Step 8

Step 9

Arrange the crispy fried beef rolls on a serving plate. When cut open, the mozzarella cheese will be wonderfully gooey and rich, and the beef itself will be incredibly juicy and tender. The contrast between the crispy exterior and the moist interior is delightful. For an extra burst of flavor, serve with your favorite dipping sauces like tonkatsu sauce or ketchup. Enjoy this delicious treat!
