Cabbage is always in my fridge for my sensitive stomach. It often went to waste because I had too much, but I discovered it’s incredibly delicious in fried rice! Even if you don’t usually like cabbage, this fried rice is guaranteed to be a hit!
Main Ingredients- Shredded Cabbage, 150g
- 1 can Tuna, drained
- 1 Egg
- 15g Mozzarella Cheese
- 200g Brown Rice (cooked and warm)
Seasoning & Sauce- 1/2 Tbsp Tuna Extract
- 1/2 Tbsp Oyster Sauce
- 1.5 Tbsp Tomato Sauce
- 1/2 Tbsp Tuna Extract
- 1/2 Tbsp Oyster Sauce
- 1.5 Tbsp Tomato Sauce
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, thoroughly wash the shredded cabbage and drain it well in a colander. This step ensures your fried rice will have a pleasant, crisp texture.
Step 2
Heat a moderate amount of oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the drained tuna and the shredded cabbage. Stir-fry until the cabbage becomes tender and slightly wilted, allowing the savory flavor of the tuna to infuse into the cabbage.
Step 3
Once the cabbage has softened, add 1/2 tablespoon of tuna extract (using a standard tablespoon as a measure). Mix well to evenly distribute the extract, enhancing the umami of the dish.
Step 4
Add the warm brown rice, 1/2 tablespoon of oyster sauce, and 1.5 tablespoons of tomato sauce to the pan. Stir-fry everything together until well combined. Breaking up any clumps of rice and ensuring all ingredients are evenly coated is key for a delicious fried rice.
Step 5
Create a well in the center of the fried rice and crack the egg into it. Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese over the egg and the surrounding rice. Cover the pan with a lid and cook over low heat until the egg white is set and the cheese is melted. You can adjust the cooking time to achieve your preferred egg yolk consistency, whether you like it runny (sunny-side up) or fully cooked (over-hard)!
