Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Begin by preparing your beetroot. Wash the organic, pesticide-free beetroot thoroughly under running water. Root vegetables grown underground can often carry soil, so a good wash is essential. Opting for organic or pesticide-free options is highly recommended for your well-being.

Step 2

I considered different methods to maximize the nutrients in the beetroot. Some suggest eating it raw to preserve nutrients, while others recommend cooking it for better absorption. I decided to steam it, as this method gently cooks the beetroot without direct contact with water, helping to retain its nutrients while making it tender. Steam for about 15 minutes until fork-tender. This method ensures nutrients aren’t lost in the cooking water and results in a softer texture, perfect for blending.

Step 3

Once the beetroot has cooled slightly after steaming, use a peeler to carefully remove the skin. While you can consume it with the skin on, peeling it results in a smoother texture for your juice.

Step 4

Cut the peeled beetroot into bite-sized cubes. Portion out what you plan to drink immediately and store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Freeze the remaining cubes in portions; this way, you’ll have pre-prepped beetroot ready to use whenever you need it. Frozen beetroot can also be used as a substitute for ice cubes in your juice.

Step 5

Now, let’s make this vibrant, healthy juice! Add the cubed beetroot, a cored and chopped apple, and the prepared carrot to your blender. Chopping the ingredients into manageable pieces will help the blender process them more efficiently.

Step 6

To ensure a smooth blend, add some liquid to the blender. Pour in the pear juice and the sweet peach juice. Feel free to use any other fruit or vegetable juices you have on hand. Adding juice helps the blades move freely, preventing the ingredients from getting stuck and resulting in a creamier consistency.

Step 7

Consider adding some extra goodness with optional ingredients! I’ve added a bit of goji berry powder, which I had at home and wasn’t using much. If you have other superfood powders like aronia powder, feel free to add a small amount. They can enhance the nutritional value without significantly altering the taste.

Step 8

With all the ingredients in the blender, it’s time to blend! Start on a lower speed and gradually increase to high, blending until the mixture is as smooth as possible. A thick, rich consistency is ideal, allowing you to savor it with a spoon if you prefer, or drink it down for a quick and nutritious boost.

Step 9

It’s said that drinking this beetroot juice on an empty stomach in the morning is most beneficial. We plan to use it as a breakfast substitute. It’s a wonderful way to start the day feeling energized and healthy.

Step 10

Don’t discard any leftover beetroot juice in the blender! Add a cup of milk and blend again. This creates a delicious and creamy beetroot milk or beetroot milkshake. It’s a fantastic way to enjoy the benefits without any waste.

Step 11

This beetroot milk, or beetroot milkshake, turned out to be surprisingly delicious! The earthy flavor of beetroot is masked by the sweetness, making it palatable even for children. It’s a perfect healthy treat option for kids.
