For the Chap Steak- 300g Beef Chuck Steak
- 1/2 Red Bell Pepper
- 1/2 Yellow Bell Pepper
- 1/2 Green Bell Pepper
- 1/5 Broccoli
- 1/4 Onion
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Gently pat the beef chuck steak dry with paper towels to remove any excess moisture or blood. This step helps ensure a cleaner flavor without any gamey taste.
Step 2
Lightly season the beef with salt. Be mindful that the steak sauce also contains salt, so avoid over-salting.
Step 3
Dice the bell peppers, green pepper, and onion into bite-sized pieces (about 2cm). Separate the broccoli into small florets. Briefly blanch the broccoli in boiling water with a pinch of salt for about 30 seconds to 1 minute, then rinse under cold water to maintain its vibrant color. Blanching the broccoli beforehand will shorten the cooking time later.
Step 4
Let’s make the delicious sauce! In a bowl, combine 3 Tbsp steak sauce, 3 Tbsp ketchup, 2 Tbsp oligodang, 2 Tbsp mirin, 1 Tbsp oyster sauce, 1 Tbsp hot sauce, 1 Tbsp minced garlic, and a pinch of black pepper. Whisk everything together until well combined. If you prefer a spicier kick, feel free to add a bit more hot sauce!
Step 5
Cut the beef chuck steak into bite-sized pieces, about 2-3cm cubes. Heat a pan over high heat until it’s very hot. Add the seasoned beef and sear it quickly on all sides. The key is to cook it just enough to brown the exterior, locking in the juices without overcooking.
Step 6
Once the beef is nicely browned, add all the chopped vegetables (bell peppers, green pepper, onion, and blanched broccoli) to the pan. Stir-fry them with the beef for about a minute. Pour in the prepared sauce and toss everything together to coat evenly. Continue to stir-fry for another 1-2 minutes until the vegetables are tender-crisp and the sauce has thickened slightly. Your delicious and glossy Chap Steak is ready!
