Main Ingredients

  • 300g beef brisket slices
  • 150g bean sprouts
  • 200g enoki mushrooms
  • 70g green onions
  • 20 perilla leaves
  • 5 Tbsp water (for steaming)

Refreshing Lemon Soy Sauce Dip

  • 2 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 Tbsp water
  • 2 Tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 Tbsp sesame seeds (whole or ground)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, let’s make the delicious dipping sauce. Prepare 2 tablespoons of soy sauce.

Step 1

Step 2

Add 2 tablespoons of water to the soy sauce.

Step 2

Step 3

Now, add 2 tablespoons of lemon juice for a refreshing zest.

Step 3

Step 4

Finally, stir in 2 tablespoons of sesame seeds (either whole or ground) and mix everything well until evenly combined. Set the sauce aside for later.

Step 4

Step 5

Next, prepare the vegetables. Trim the root ends of the green onions and cut them slightly longer than the width of the beef brisket slices, about 1 cm longer. This will make rolling easier.

Step 5

Step 6

Lay out one slice of beef brisket on a clean work surface. Be gentle as the slices can be thin and may tear.

Step 6

Step 7

Place a perilla leaf on top of the beef brisket slice. Then, arrange a portion of enoki mushrooms on the perilla leaf, followed by the trimmed green onions.

Step 7

Step 8

Carefully roll the beef brisket slice tightly from one end to the other, enclosing the vegetables. Think of it like rolling sushi.

Step 8

Step 9

In a pot, spread the washed bean sprouts (150g) evenly across the bottom. The bean sprouts act as a cushion, preventing the beef rolls from sticking to the bottom and helping them steam evenly.

Step 9

Step 10

Arrange the rolled beef brisket and vegetable bundles neatly on top of the layer of bean sprouts.

Step 10

Step 11

Pour 5 tablespoons of water around the edges of the pot, not directly over the rolls. Be careful not to add too much water, as it could make the dish too salty. Cover the pot with a lid and bring it to a simmer over medium heat.

Step 11

Step 12

Once steam starts to escape, reduce the heat to low. Let the rolls steam for about 5-7 minutes, or until the beef brisket is fully cooked and the vegetables are tender. Check that the beef is cooked through, then turn off the heat. Your delicious Beef Brisket and Vegetable Rolls are ready!

Step 12

Step 13

These freshly steamed rolls offer a wonderfully delicate flavor, highlighting the natural taste of the vegetables. Paired with the zesty lemon soy sauce dip, the savory beef becomes even more irresistible.

Step 13

Step 14

Feel free to customize this dish with other vegetables you have on hand! Consider adding thinly sliced sweet potato, baby cabbage, various mushrooms, or chives for an even richer and more nutritious meal. It’s a great dish to enjoy with family, including children.

Step 14

Step 15

Dip the rolls into the prepared sauce and enjoy a delightful and satisfying meal. Bon appétit!
