Beef and Zucchini Puree
Stage 2 Early Infant Food: Beef and Zucchini Puree
We’re nearing the end of the early infant food stage! I’ll be preparing well for the intermediate stage too! This Beef and Zucchini Puree is a fantastic choice, offering a smooth texture and nutrient-rich ingredients to aid your baby’s taste development.
Ingredients
- Rice flour 15g
- Beef (lean cut) 25g
- Zucchini 15g
- Water 240g
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Soak the fresh beef in cold water to remove any blood. Accurately measure out the rice flour, zucchini, and water for the baby food. Removing blood is key to eliminating any gamey flavor and ensuring a smooth taste for your baby’s meal.
Step 2
Place the bled beef and the zucchini (washed and cut into cubes) into a pot with 100g of water. Simmer until the beef is completely tender. Don’t discard the beef cooking water; instead, transfer all ingredients, including the cooking water, to a blender and blend until very smooth. The broth from cooking the beef adds wonderful depth of flavor.
Step 3
Pour the blended beef and zucchini mixture back into the pot and add the remaining water (140g). Cook over medium-low heat, stirring constantly to prevent sticking. As the rice flour cooks, the puree will gradually thicken to a smooth, creamy cheese-like consistency. It’s important to simmer it gently until it reaches a texture that is easy for your baby to eat.
Step 4
Pass the finished puree through a fine-mesh sieve. This step ensures a lump-free, exceptionally smooth, and silky texture, making it easier for your baby to consume. If you encounter any remaining lumps, gently press them down with a spoon to incorporate them.
Step 5
Your nutritious Beef and Zucchini Puree is ready! Let it cool to a safe temperature before serving your baby a delicious and healthy meal.
