Banana Oatmeal Cookies: Healthy & Delicious (No Flour!)
SNS Viral Recipe! How to Make Peanut Butter Banana Oatmeal Cookies
Inspired by a flourless cookie recipe I saw trending on social media, I decided to try making my own! These banana oatmeal cookies are a fantastic gluten-free treat, blending the natural sweetness of bananas with the wholesome goodness of oats and a hint of peanut butter. They’re perfect as a healthy snack for kids or a satisfying dessert when you need a sweet pick-me-up.
Ingredients- 2 ripe bananas
- 100g rolled oats or quick oats (if using granola, check sugar content)
- 1 tablespoon peanut butter
- A small handful of dried cranberries (optional, for a touch of tartness)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Start by preparing your bananas. Peel 2 ripe bananas and mash them thoroughly using a fork or potato masher until smooth and free of lumps. Using very ripe bananas will ensure natural sweetness and help the dough bind together better.
Step 2
To the mashed bananas, add 100g of oats. If you’re using granola, be mindful of its sugar content and adjust the sweetness accordingly. Toss in a handful of dried cranberries at this stage for a pleasant chewiness and a burst of tartness.
Step 3
Now, stir in 1 tablespoon of peanut butter. This adds a wonderful nutty flavor and creamy texture, also helping to bind the ingredients. Mix everything together with a spatula or spoon until just combined. You don’t need to overmix.
Step 4
Line a baking sheet or your air fryer basket with parchment paper. Drop spoonfuls of the cookie dough onto the prepared surface. You can shape them into rounds or flatten them slightly with the back of a spoon, perhaps dipping your fingers in water to prevent sticking. If the dough is too sticky to handle, chilling it in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes can make shaping easier.
Step 5
Time to bake! Preheat your air fryer to 170°C (340°F) and bake for approximately 15 minutes. If using an oven, preheat to 180°C (355°F) and bake for 15-20 minutes. Baking times may vary depending on the size and thickness of your cookies and your specific appliance, so keep an eye on them to prevent burning.
Step 6
Once baked, carefully remove the cookies and let them cool completely on a wire rack. They might be soft when warm, but will firm up and become delightfully chewy as they cool. Enjoy your delicious and healthy homemade banana oatmeal cookies!
