Cooking Instructions

Step 1

If you’ve decided to make baked eggs, the first step is to take the eggs out of the refrigerator at least 30 minutes beforehand to let them come to room temperature. Using cold eggs directly can affect cooking time and increase the likelihood of shells cracking, so allowing them to reach room temperature is crucial.

Step 1

Step 2

Gently wash the eggs under warm water. Soaking the eggs in lukewarm water for about 10 minutes can help prevent the shells from cracking or bursting during cooking. A great tip is to soak the eggs in water mixed with vinegar and salt; this makes peeling much easier later on! If you skip this step, don’t worry. Immediately after cooking, submerging the eggs in cold water to cool them down will also make peeling easier.

Step 2

Step 3

Now, pour an appropriate amount of water into the inner pot of your pressure cooker. Ensure the water level is high enough to cover at least half of the steaming rack.

Step 3

Step 4

After adding water to the inner pot, carefully place the steaming rack inside the cooker. Make sure the rack is stable and doesn’t touch the water directly.

Step 4

Step 5

Gently arrange the room-temperature eggs on the prepared steaming rack. Try to give them some space so they don’t touch each other. Now, select the ‘Multi-Cook’ or ‘Steam’ function on your pressure cooker and set it to cook for two cycles (e.g., after the first cycle, if the water has evaporated, refill and start the second cycle). This process will result in delicious baked eggs, just like the ones from the jjimjilbang!

Step 5

Step 6

Voila! Your jjimjilbang-style baked eggs are ready! Enjoy the chewy exterior, moist interior, and rich, savory flavor while they’re still warm. This recipe is so simple, anyone can follow it easily. They taste even better with a warm cup of tea!
