Baekseju Highball – A Special Homemade Cocktail for Enjoying at Home
Easy Baekseju Joseon Highball Cocktail Recipe to Make at Home
As we spend more time at home, I’ve created a special homemade cocktail that’s perfect for enjoying with family and friends. Enjoy a healthy sip with a Baekseju cocktail, a fine drink shared with good company. Its subtle traditional Korean liquor aroma and refreshing flavor are a delightful combination for everyone to easily enjoy.
Essential Ingredients- 1/4 fresh lemon (about 3 Tbsp if using lemon juice)
- 150ml chilled tonic water
- 150ml Baekseju (traditional Korean rice wine)
- 125g fresh ice (about one full glass)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare a 400ml beer mug or highball glass and fill it generously with fresh ice. Using plenty of ice will help keep your drink colder for longer.
Step 2
Pour 2 shots (approximately 150ml) of Baekseju into the prepared glass. You can easily measure this using a Baekseju shot glass or a soju shot glass. If you prefer a richer flavor and aroma of Baekseju, feel free to increase the amount to 3 shots (approximately 225ml).
Step 3
Next, pour 2 shots (approximately 150ml) of chilled tonic water into the glass, matching the amount of Baekseju. If you increased the Baekseju to 3 shots (approx. 225ml), reduce the tonic water to 1 shot (approx. 75ml) to maintain the perfect ratio.
Step 4
Prepare 1/4 of a fresh lemon and squeeze its juice directly into the glass. If you are using bottled lemon juice, add about 3 tablespoons (using a teaspoon for measurement). The citrusy notes of lemon will further enhance the cocktail’s flavor.
Step 5
Finally, garnish with a slice of lemon for an attractive finish. This way, even as the ice melts and the drink dilutes, the refreshing lemon flavor will continue to infuse, ensuring it remains delicious until the last sip. Enjoy it slowly with your favorite snacks and savor the relaxing moment.
