Perfect Snack for Kids! Baek Jong-won’s Cheese Toast Recipe

Baek Jong-won's Simple Cheese Toast

I’ve made a simple version of the cheese toast that was featured on ‘Housewife Baek’s Recipes’ Season 3. It’s the perfect snack for my child who’s back at school and often feels hungry. Since my child skips breakfast before school, they tend to eat two meals at home – one right after school and another around 9 PM if still hungry. To satisfy their cravings without much fuss, this simple yet delicious Baek Jong-won Cheese Toast is the ideal solution. It’s a great way to keep them happy and fueled!

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Here are the incredibly simple ingredients for cheese toast! I remember seeing this recipe on TV and vowing to make it. You can use 2 slices of bread with 4 slices of cheese, or a ratio of 1 slice of bread to 2 slices of cheese. Personally, I found the 1:2 ratio (bread:cheese) to be the most delicious.

Step 1

Step 2

Heat a non-stick pan over low heat. Since the cheese slices are smaller than the bread, start by placing one whole slice of cheese in the pan. Then, tear the remaining cheese slices and arrange them around the edges to create a larger surface that matches the bread’s size. Finally, place one slice of bread on top of the cheese.

Step 2

Step 3

Don’t worry about the cheese melting and sticking to the pan! It actually comes off very cleanly. If any cheese oozes out the sides of the bread, gently use a spatula to scrape it and press it onto the sides of the bread. Any cheese remaining on the pan can be stuck to the back of the bread by flipping it over.

Step 3

Step 4

It’s so quick and easy! This time, I pressed down firmly on the bread with my hand to make it extra crispy. (Oh, I recently burned my finger on a pot lid, leaving a scar. ㅠㅠ My fingers are already short and a bit chubby, and now with the scar, they’re becoming quite unique! Haha.) After making it a couple of times, I discovered that the slightly browned, crispy cheese stuck to the back of the bread is absolutely delightful!

Step 5

Ta-da! Your delicious homemade Baek Jong-won Cheese Toast, perfect for a snack, is ready!
