Main Ingredients

  • Large Shrimp 6-9 pcs
  • Pizza Cheese 100g
  • Colby Jack or Cheddar Cheese 50g
  • Cooked Rice 300g
  • Salt 1/3 tsp
  • Black Pepper to taste

Rich Gravy Sauce

  • Ground Beef (brisket recommended) 60g
  • Onion 1/4 (finely chopped)
  • Potato 1/4 (medium size, finely chopped)
  • Butter 23g (softened at room temperature)
  • All-purpose Flour 2 Tbsp
  • Water 100ml
  • Milk 200ml
  • Dry White Wine 2 Tbsp

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Begin by seasoning the ground beef for a foundational flavor. Add a pinch of salt and a dash of black pepper, then gently mix to ensure even seasoning.

Step 1

Step 2

Now, let’s prepare the rich sauce. Melt the butter in a preheated frying pan over medium heat. Once the buttery aroma starts to fill the air, proceed to the next step.

Step 2

Step 3

Add the seasoned ground beef to the pan. Cook over medium heat for about 2 minutes, until the beef is browned and has released its delicious juices.

Step 3

Step 4

To deepen the flavor of the beef, add 2 tablespoons of dry white wine and sauté for another 2 minutes. The alcohol will evaporate, leaving behind a wonderful depth of flavor.

Step 4

Step 5

Once most of the liquid from the beef has evaporated, sprinkle in the flour (2 Tbsp). Reduce the heat to low and stir continuously for 3 minutes, ensuring the flour is thoroughly cooked without burning. This step is crucial for thickening the sauce.

Step 5

Step 6

In a blender, combine the finely chopped potato and onion with 100ml of water, and blend until smooth. Pour this mixture into the pan with the sautéed beef. Add 200ml of milk and bring to a gentle simmer over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally until a smooth, creamy sauce forms.

Step 6

Step 7

As the sauce begins to bubble, add the plump shrimp, warm cooked rice, 1/3 tsp of salt, and a pinch of pepper. Stir everything together to combine evenly. Let it simmer for about 2 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld beautifully.

Step 7

Step 8

Prepare your gratin dish. Nicely arrange the flavorful mixture into the dish. Generously top with both the pizza cheese and the Colby Jack or Cheddar cheese for that irresistible cheesy finish.

Step 8

Step 9

The final step! Bake in the oven or microwave until the cheese is fully melted, golden brown, and bubbly. For oven baking, preheat to 180°C (350°F) and bake for 10-15 minutes. Enjoy your delicious homemade gratin!
