Baek Jong-won’s 3-Minute Cream Curry Udon
Baek Jong-won’s “Home Cook Baek Show” Recipe: Delicious Cream Curry Udon Ready in 3 Minutes!
I tried making the super simple cream curry udon featured on the Korean cooking show “Home Cook Baek Show.” This recipe requires minimal ingredients and creates a delicious, creamy udon dish in just about 3 minutes! Let’s make this flavorful cream curry udon together, perfect for a quick and satisfying meal.
Main Ingredients- 1 serving Udon noodles (fresh or frozen)
- 2 cups Milk (approx. 400ml)
- 2 strips Bacon
- 1/4 Onion
- A small bunch of Chives (for garnish)
Seasoning- 3 Tbsp Curry powder (choose mild or spicy according to preference)
- 3 Tbsp Curry powder (choose mild or spicy according to preference)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, heat a pan over medium-low heat. Add the bacon, cut into bite-sized pieces (about 1-2 cm wide), and the thinly sliced onion. Sauté until golden brown. The bacon fat will render and add depth of flavor as it cooks with the onions. (Note: This step wasn’t in the original Baek Jong-won recipe, but adding it significantly enhances the overall taste!)
Step 2
In a separate pot, pour in 2 cups (approx. 400ml) of milk and bring it to a simmer over medium heat. Once the milk starts to boil, reduce the heat slightly. Add 3 tablespoons of curry powder and whisk thoroughly with a whisk or spoon until it’s completely dissolved and there are no lumps.
Step 3
When the milk and curry mixture comes to a boil again, add the udon noodles. Continue to cook for about 2-3 minutes, or until the noodles are tender and well-coated with the sauce. Stir occasionally to ensure the noodles don’t stick.
Step 4
At this point, you already have the basic cream curry udon! But let’s take it one step further to make it even more special.
Step 5
Top the finished cream curry udon with the sautéed bacon and onions. Wash the fresh chives, snip them into small pieces with scissors, and sprinkle them over the top as a garnish for a beautiful presentation and a fresh, crisp texture. Enjoy this incredibly simple yet delicious cream curry udon, featuring a delightful blend of the creamy sauce’s sweetness, the subtle aroma of curry, the savory bacon, and the refreshing chives!
