Infused with Olive Aroma! How to Make Bacon and Olive Fried Rice

Bacon and Olive Fried Rice

Do you enjoy olives? I absolutely love them. While I adore olives, I know many people find them polarizing, much like cilantro. I’m also a fan of cilantro! It seems I enjoy many things that others tend to dislike. Making fried rice with olives might seem a bit unusual to some, but I personally created a delicious fried rice using my favorite ingredient: olives. To prevent it from tasting too plain with just olives, I decided to add some bacon for extra flavor. Doesn’t adding bacon just make everything taste better? Let me guide you through the process of making this delightful Bacon and Olive Fried Rice right now.

Ingredients

  • 1 bowl of cooked rice
  • 1/2 green onion (scallion)
  • 1/4 onion
  • 1/4 carrot
  • 4 strips of bacon
  • 10 black olives
  • 3 Tbsp cooking oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste
  • 1 pinch of parsley flakes

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, cut the green onion in half lengthwise, and then slice it thinly into pieces about 0.3 cm apart. This helps release the green onion’s aroma into the oil, enhancing the fried rice’s flavor.

Step 1

Step 2

Peel the onion and dice it into small cubes, approximately 0.3 cm x 0.3 cm. Cutting them too large might result in longer cooking times.

Step 2

Step 3

Similarly, dice the carrot into small cubes, about 0.3 cm x 0.3 cm, just like the onion. The carrot’s sweetness and texture will add an interesting element to your fried rice.

Step 3

Step 4

Cut the bacon into bite-sized pieces, about 1 cm apart. The rendered bacon fat will infuse the entire fried rice with a rich, savory flavor.

Step 4

Step 5

Pit the black olives if they have seeds, and then slice them thinly, about 0.5 cm apart. The salty and aromatic notes of the olives will add a sophisticated depth to the fried rice.

Step 5

Step 6

Now, heat a skillet over medium-low heat and add 3 tablespoons of cooking oil. Add the sliced green onions and sauté until they release a gentle, sweet aroma. Cooking them slowly is key to extracting their flavor.

Step 6

Step 7

Once the green onions are fragrant, add the diced onion, carrot, bacon, and sliced black olives to the skillet. Stir-fry everything together until the bacon is golden brown and the vegetables are tender.

Step 7

Step 8

When all the ingredients are cooked to your liking, add the bowl of warm cooked rice. Gently break up the rice with a spatula, ensuring not to mash the grains. Season with salt and black pepper to your taste as you continue to stir-fry. The goal is to coat each grain of rice with the delicious flavors of the other ingredients!

Step 8

Step 9

Finally, once everything is well combined and seasoned, remove from heat and sprinkle a pinch of parsley flakes over the top. The fragrant parsley adds a beautiful finishing touch to your Bacon and Olive Fried Rice. Enjoy your delicious meal!
