Baby’s Favorite Steamed Egg Rice
The Ultimate Steamed Egg Rice Recipe That Even Picky Eaters Love
This recipe is my inspired take on a steamed egg rice from a cookbook, enhanced with extra ingredients to boost flavor. It was the very first dish my incredibly picky eater baby finished completely, and it holds a special place in my heart. It’s incredibly simple to make, so please give it a try for your little one!
Ingredients- 10g finely minced beef
- 1 fresh egg
- 10g finely minced zucchini
- 10g finely minced carrot
- 10g finely minced onion
- 50ml anchovy broth
- 1/2 Tbsp sesame oil
- A pinch of ground sesame seeds
- 50ml cooked rice
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Finely mince all the vegetables (zucchini, carrot, onion) into very small pieces suitable for a baby. You can use a food chopper or processor for convenience. Gently pat the minced beef with a paper towel to remove any excess blood; this helps prevent clumping and ensures a tender texture.
Step 2
Place the minced vegetables and beef into a microwave-safe bowl. Crack the egg into the bowl and whisk it thoroughly to break up the chalaza (the stringy white part) and create a smooth consistency. This step contributes to a fluffier steamed egg.
Step 3
Pour the 50ml of savory anchovy broth into the whisked egg mixture in a 1:1 ratio. Then, add the 50ml of cooked rice and gently stir everything together until well combined. Be careful not to mash the rice grains; a gentle stir is best.
Step 4
Finally, add a pinch of ground sesame seeds and 1/2 tablespoon of sesame oil, and stir once more to distribute evenly. Cover the bowl tightly with plastic wrap, then poke a few small holes in the wrap with a toothpick or fork to allow steam to escape. Microwave for approximately 5 minutes, or until the egg is set and cooked through. Adjust cooking time based on your microwave’s power. Enjoy your delicious steamed egg rice!
