Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Check all the ingredients for your delicious Sindang-dong Tteokbokki. Everything is perfectly included: rice cakes, cabbage, fish cakes, jjolmyeon noodles, ramen, dumplings, the special sauce, and pickled radish.
Step 2
Arrange the prepared ingredients attractively in a wide and deep pot. Start by laying down a generous layer of cabbage, washed thoroughly under running water. Then, add the tteokbokki rice cakes, fish cakes, and jjolmyeon noodles in sequence. Finally, place the crispy fried dumplings on top. Your pot will be brimming with deliciousness!
Step 3
Now, add the heart of the flavor – the entire container (80-100g) of special sauce. Then, pour in 600ml of clean water. Cooking this will perfectly recreate the deep, original taste of Sindang-dong.
Step 4
Begin by boiling over high heat to ensure all ingredients cook evenly. Once the broth starts to vigorously boil, reduce the heat to medium-low. At this point, add the ramen noodles and stir to help the sauce coat them well as they cook.
Step 5
The sauce for this tteokbokki has a complex flavor, seemingly a blend of gochujang and a hint of black bean paste (chunjang). The addition of Cheongyang chili powder provides a subtle, lingering spiciness at the end that tantalizes the palate. You can adjust the spiciness to your preference.
Step 6
Enjoy the perfectly cooked tteokbokki while it’s hot! Serving it alongside the crunchy, sweet, and sour pickled radish (danmuji) will further enhance the tteokbokki’s flavors, making your meal even more delightful. Experience the fantastic combination of spicy-sweet tteokbokki and refreshing danmuji!
