Kimbap Ingredients

  • 70g Wheatgrass (washed and trimmed)
  • 4 Eggs
  • 2 Imitation Crab Sticks
  • 2 Fish Cakes (thinly sliced)
  • 4 sheets Kimbap-style Ham
  • 1/2 Carrot (julienned)
  • 8 strips Seasoned Burdock Root
  • 4 strips Pickled Radish
  • 4 sheets Kimbap Seaweed
  • 3 bowls Cooked Rice (warm)
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 Tbsp Sesame Oil
  • 1 Tbsp Toasted Sesame Seeds

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Begin by preparing all your kimbap ingredients. Since wheatgrass is a young sprout, it won’t be very long, but trim it to fit the size of your seaweed sheets. Prepare the egg by whisking and frying thin omelets, then slicing them. Also, slice the imitation crab sticks, ham, fish cakes, and julienne the carrot.

Step 3

Next, let’s season the rice, which is crucial for flavor. In a bowl with 3 cups of warm cooked rice, add 1 tsp salt, 1 Tbsp sesame oil, and 1 Tbsp toasted sesame seeds. Mix gently until well combined. Taste the seasoned rice to ensure it’s perfectly balanced.

Step 3

Step 4

Place a sheet of kimbap seaweed on a bamboo mat or clean surface. Spread the seasoned rice thinly and evenly over the seaweed, leaving a small border at the top. Generously layer the prepared wheatgrass over the rice. Then, arrange your chosen kimbap fillings neatly on top of the wheatgrass. Carefully roll the kimbap tightly from the bottom up.

Step 5

Let’s take a look at our finished wheatgrass kimbap. When sliced, you can see the layers inside. Perhaps adding a bit more wheatgrass next time would enhance its visual appeal! However, the taste is truly outstanding. It offers a flavor profile entirely different from perilla leaves or lettuce, providing a fresher, more vibrant, and subtly herbaceous note.
