  • 1 Tbsp Gochugaru (Korean chili flakes)
  • 1 Tbsp Maesil-cheong (Plum extract)
  • 0.5 Tbsp Soy Sauce

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Here are 150g of pesticide-free Bangpungnamul from Nonsan, purchased from the market. It’s great to find fresh, healthy greens at an affordable price.

Step 2

Did you know that ‘Bangpung’ in Bangpungnamul comes from the meaning ‘to prevent wind’? Knowing the origins and benefits of the ingredients can make the dish even more enjoyable.

Step 3

Look at this vibrant green! The Bangpungnamul looks incredibly appealing, embodying the fresh energy of spring.

Step 4

As I started to wash the leaves, I noticed the water droplets clinging to them in perfect little spheres – a beautiful sight!

Step 5

After a gentle rinse, the Bangpungnamul looks even fresher and more beautiful.

Step 6

While the Bangpungnamul drains, let’s prepare the seasoning for our kimchi salad. In a bowl, combine 1 Tbsp Gochugaru, 1 Tbsp Maesil-cheong, 0.5 Tbsp Soy Sauce, and some sesame seeds. Mix well. Feel free to adjust the seasoning proportions to your preference.

Step 7

Thinly slice half an onion and add it to the Bangpungnamul. The natural sweetness of the onion complements the herb’s flavor. Now, generously drizzle the prepared seasoning over the thinly sliced onions and the Bangpungnamul.

Step 8

Gently toss everything together, and your delicious Bangpungnamul Kimchi Salad is ready! Making this fresh salad is surprisingly easy!

Step 9

This Bangpungnamul Kimchi Salad is truly a spring gem, offering a delightful balance of slight bitterness and a wonderfully fragrant aroma. It’s a perfect dish to stimulate your appetite during the spring season. Enjoy a healthy and delicious meal with these fresh spring greens!
