  • Difficulty : Beginner

Main Ingredients
  • Smoked salmon 80g
  • 1/2 onion
  • 40g red cabbage
  • 50g carrot
  • 1 Korean green chili pepper (askgichu)
  • 1 Tbsp cream cheese
  • 1 Tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 Tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp lemon juice

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, thinly slice the onion. To mellow its sharp bite, soak the sliced onions in cold water for at least 10 minutes, then drain them thoroughly. Thinly julienne the red cabbage, soak it briefly in water to retain its crispness, then rinse and drain well.

Step 2

Wash and julienne the carrot and the Korean green chili pepper into long, thin strips. Ensuring they are uniformly cut will make for a beautiful presentation when rolled.

Step 3

I’m using cranberry cream cheese for a lovely pink hue, but regular cream cheese works just as well. In a small bowl, combine the cream cheese, mayonnaise, honey, and lemon juice. Whisk everything together until you have a smooth, creamy sauce. The honey adds a touch of sweetness, while the lemon juice provides a refreshing tang.

Step 4

On a cutting board, lay out the smoked salmon slices, slightly overlapping them. Arrange the prepared vegetables (red cabbage, onion, green chili, carrot) neatly over the salmon. Starting from one end, carefully and firmly roll the salmon and vegetables into a tight log. This forms your smoked salmon and vegetable roll.

Step 5

Slice the finished rolls into bite-sized pieces and arrange them attractively on a serving plate. Drizzle with the prepared sauce and, if desired, sprinkle with a pinch of parsley for an extra touch of freshness and visual appeal. Enjoy the harmonious blend of fresh ingredients!
