- A little cooking oil
- 1 Tbsp soup soy sauce
- 1/2 Tbsp sesame oil
- 1 egg (for sunny-side up)
- Gochujang or Dallae sauce (optional)
- A little cooking oil
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, chop the prepared blanched Chwinamul into bite-sized pieces. In a bowl, combine the Chwinamul with 1 Tbsp of soup soy sauce and 1/2 Tbsp of sesame oil, and gently mix by hand (jomul-jomul) to lightly season. Pre-seasoning like this allows the flavors to meld into the rice, making it even more delicious.

Step 2
Rinse the rice thoroughly and place it in the electric pressure cooker. Add a generous amount of the pre-seasoned Chwinamul on top of the rice. It’s best to use slightly less water than you normally would for cooking rice. Select the ‘White Rice – High Pressure’ mode on your electric pressure cooker to cook the rice. This process will take approximately 35 minutes.

Step 3
The electric pressure cooker will signal when the delicious rice is ready, completing the Chwinamul rice cooking process! Upon opening the lid, the fragrant aroma of Chwinamul will waft up, sure to whet your appetite.

Step 4
While the rice is cooking, prepare the fried egg. Heat a generous amount of cooking oil in a pan, then carefully crack the egg into it. Fry it until the yolk is still slightly runny, creating a perfectly sunny-side up egg. This runny yolk is key for a delicious finish.

Step 5
Transfer the finished Chwinamul rice into a preheated cast-iron pot or a regular serving bowl for a beautiful presentation. Gently place the freshly fried sunny-side up egg on top. Depending on your preference, you can mix it with gochujang (Korean chili paste) or dallae sauce (Korean wild chive sauce) for an even richer and more flavorful Chwinamul rice experience.
